He wiped the dust she had kicked up off his eyes quickly, not wanting to miss a moment of her acrobatics. The moment the ship was gone and she took off, he knew that she was special. While a tad oblivious to the way his fellow machine was supposed to act, he had seen he billboards his creators has put up of the other WALL-Es, so a part of him knew he was different. That same part of him knew she was different, and the more he saw that throughout the day, when she nice to his pet and when she showed emotions, the more that part of himself overthrew the rest.

But none of these realizations were beyond the awe of their original meeting. Her flight across the only sky he ever knew made him realize just how bleak that sky really was. But she had cut right through the clogged air of what had become solely his world, and all it took was that small thirst for freedom that made him immediately fall in love with her.

He hoped she could teach him how to fly.

She brought her hands together gently in coordination with the video, feeling an uprising inside of her. It was not a new emotion, new meaning first appearing right at that moment. It had first been noticed back on Earth a day or so earlier, but it hadn't done anything like it was now, and it hadn't been close to as powerful. Back then, she didn't even know if she had actually felt it. It was just an idea that had come in and she had been curious about. Not anymore. Not after seeing her security footage. Now it was truly there, and it felt warm.

Didn't he even realize he wasn't doing his directive when he helped her? Did he even care? No, she knew he didn't. He was helping her simply because he wanted to, and as she saw him do what he wanted to, she felt the urge to do the same come from that warmth inside, and wondered if that was the same warmth he had. Whatever it was, she liked it. She loved it, and that warm feeling inside if him was so strong that it had brushed off onto her and left her wanting more of it. More of him. She loved him. She didn't completely understand it, but she knew he would.

She hoped he could teach her how to fly.
