After the responses I've received from argh128 and his gf, I've suddenly realized a gaping hole in the knowledge base of my friends. I forget who's on LJ and who's on FB and who's only connected to me by telephone or telegraph or smoke signals

Wow, that does sound like a pretty busy, and the bad kind of exciting year at work. Hopefully after months of stress and pain, the new tools will actually make the job better. I can hope right?
