someone pointed out to me recently that I hate the Harry Potter movies.
I have realized that it is probably true. But it's not out-and-out hatred; it's the hatred that comes from having loved too deeply and hoped too much, and then been too bitterly disappointed.
I am sad that you hate them :( I realize that perhaps I do not like them quite as much as I thought I did (well, I pretty much love the first two, but perhaps this is because they follow the books most closely and it was before SUPER!Hermione and COMPLETEIDIOT!Ron reared their ugly heads and refused to leave.
Really, the movies probably would have been so much better if they'd waited until after the series was over to make them so they'd know what exactly was significant and how to make the series actually flow well together. And if the main screenwriter wasn't so obviously a Harry/Hermione shipper/Hermione stan but I digress.But I can't hate them because I love Maggie Smith as McGonagall and Alan Rickman as Snape and the Phelps twins as Gred and Forge, and I just LOVE Rupert because I think he's perfect for Ron and completely underused/wasted/bastardized in the films which is a shame

YES EXACTLY see there are things I love about them so much, which basically amount to everything in your third paragraph, because those things are SO AWESOME (Vanessa, I saw a picture of the twins--this one--and I started to cry, because Fred is going to die), and the screenplays treat them, generally speaking, like crap. And just like, they'll get some things so right, but then they go and screw up so badly that I'm like WAIT, I WAS TRUSTING YOU, Y U GOTTA HURT ME BB.
FRED :'( :'( :'( The screenplays treat everyone that's awesome like crap, I think (although I think they did a decent job with Luna). I just...I try not to expect anything awesome, but from the trailers it looks like I'm going to just...BAWL during the Silver Doe scene and laugh my ass off at the 7 Potters scene, but I'm not so certain about anything else. Because all of the trailers are like "Hermione! Harry! Voldemort! blinkandyoumissedit!ron. Harry! Hermione again!" at least that's what it feels like and I'm just...sorely missing the Ron love. It's sad because I tend to not like Hermione as much in the movie because it's like, "WHERE ARE YOUR FLAWS????? WHY DO YOU HAVE NONE???" ANd that is where most of my pain stems from.
Also, yay glee fic! I still haven't watched anything other than the Britney episode, but I saw Sam and Quinn's duet and it was super cute but I'm still going to be super disappointed if Sam isn't Kurt's love interest like the rumors were saying. Sad. Panda.
