As always, will spread the word. It's honestly ridiculous to me on how we are a country founded on "everyone is created equal" and we still get this nonsense. I'm hoping that these trials will inspire change sometime soon!
Thanks! I know, it's just... weird. Honestly, my country was the second in the world to allow gay marriage, and NOTHING HAS CHANGED. The place has not broken down! Everyone and everything is still pretty much the same! How surprising!
These trial records are in places just hilarious. It's remarkable how quickly bigoted arguments break down as soon as people are no longer allowed to use 'IT'S A SIN!' to motivate their views.
I'm writing a research paper on this very issue right now. I can't understand why anything like this should still be an issue in this day and age. To me, it is a basic right, as you've said. I will definitely be checking this out, thank you!
I think a lot of people where I'm from are not aware that it is still such a big deal over there. Gay marriage has been legal for six years - it passed pretty easily - and other gay rights have been in place for ages. It wasn't until I got me an American girlfriend, LOL, that I realized how outdated some laws over there really are.
A research paper on this sounds really interesting! Glad I could be of help!
Children with gay parents benefit from a stable family far, far more than being kept in the foster system despite what ever "ridicule" they might receive. People are stupid to think that because someone is gay, that makes them a bad parent. Or a bad husband/wife. ugggggh people are so STUPID
I know. It baffles me. However these trial transcripts are incredibly hilarious in places because it is REMARKABLE how the Bigoted Side suddenly has no arguments at all left when they can't use 'GOD HATES GAYS!' or 'IT'S A SIN!'. Odd, that.
I'm keeping track of this as this is very close to my heart. One of my best friends and his husband were married in CA in Summer 2008. My husband officiated their commitment ceremony (they already had their civil ceremony the day before) for family and friends.
Anyway, just want to let you know that I'm 100% supportive and will pass this on to as many people as I can. ;)
Oh, wow! Well, let's hope this trial is the first big step in the direction of setting right this awful wrong done to so many people. I really have hope for this - and I keep stalking that website :D.
