Update: "KAICHOU WA MAID-SAMA IS GETTING AN ANIME ADAPTATION after the fans rioted and signed a petition and forced the producers to do this shit."

My reaction: "We're fucked."

ETA: You know if you petition for something and it gets made, chances are it'll suck? Fans, you and your loving tendencies ( Read more... )

I haven't read that thing, but LOOK.

THAT'S JUST WHAT SHOUJO MANGA IS LIKE. ALL OF THAT SCREAMS SHOUJO MANGA THE SAME WAY BIG BOOBS AND NO BRAINS SCREAMS SHOUNEN CHICK

And yes, I happen to like shoujo. I don't read it that much, but it's nice and lightweight and you don't have to keep worrying about forgetting what was going on and being lost.

And I will capslock spam this to hell because my most favorite person in the world who holds an awesome place in my heart is a shoujo mangaka.

1) BIG BOOBS NO BRAINS = MOSTLY shonen but then there are mroe exceptions to this rule than the plotless! rule in shojo BUT HEY FAIR GAME

2) HOUROU MUSUKO IN YOUR ICON

1) then there's the guy who is really perverted and mean, but is the true love of the heroine. And the Nice Guy best friend who is lucky if he gets to be the boyfriend of the heroine's bff. And the heroine pretends to be really strong most of the time, but still doesn't mind it if a guy saves her. BUT THAT'S JUST WHAT THEY'RE LIKE. THIS DOESN'T MEAN ALL CHICKS OR DUDES OR COCKS ARE LIKE THAT.

2) OMG YES

3) Marisa Kirisame from Touhou Project

2) I need to catch up with it but I LOVE THE ART I LOVE THE CHARACTERS SOB they're all so idk, SPECIAL.

Meh, to me it's just "okayyy" on the first chapter, but later on I start getting really angry because Usui keeps shooting his mouth off in a really sexist manner. Or maybe that's just me.

The side characters are better than the main characters by far. >:

Creepy shojo manga. Needs more. And one day I want to see a CANON OT3 with MUTUAL LOVE in shojo. Always it is the same old plastic mold for a good portion of shojo:

1) One girl
2) Two guys
3) One of the guys is dark haired, he's the popular, cool, suave dude everyone loves but is secretly harboring a DARK AND ANGSTY PAST OHOHO and is main girls' true love and she'll help him OPEN UP HIS CLOSED HEART AHAHAHA
4) Main girl's BFF/childhood friend, usually blond/light-haired. He's the open, friendly, "8D" kind of character who will NEVER end up with main girl and EVER PRESENT RIVALRY/HATRED FOR POPULAR BLACKHAIRED DUDE, GET!
5) Follow their plotless and kinda pontless adventures feat. a lot of blushing and wank drama ( ... )

... 8| why do all the shit series get their anime adaptation. *googled and vomited a little inside*

Oh and a shoujo manga that's actually good, like Kare Kano, got twelve episodes worth of crap and they didn't even show REIJI ARIMA who is the hottest and creepiest manga dad ever D8 *is disappointed* and even NANAs anime was .. ugh. Not that good.

I mean, just look at Hana Yori Dango. My eyes were BURRRRNING when I read it, Domyoji that I utterly and completely loved in the live action adaptation (I'm just a little biased, iluu MatsuJun), but in the manga he's just your typical annoying shoujo "hero". D:

And we wonder forever. Why do GOOD manga, forget even being shojo, just GOOD MANGA with actual freakin' MEANING never get animated/popular/more pimped out?

Personally I like mangas that break cliches or make them bearable somehow, so if I'm not impressed by the first 3 chapters I usually won't like the manga at all. :/

Otomen breaks almost every cliche I can possibly THINK of [no shit sherlock, it's really that good] and then there are the shojo titles some say are good because the main female lead is actually strong WOW BIG SURPRISE like I haven't seen THAT load of bull before. Maybe it's just my over-the-top expectations, but normally 'strong' females leads don't turn out to be that strong after all. And then throw in the fact that it's cliche, the dude is copypasta to lure in stupid and unassuming girls reading the manga, and everything else I can predict.

SHOJO. It makes me want to cry forever sometimes. Not that all titles are bad, per se - you find some good too, right - but most are absolutely HORRIBLE.
