New version of an old render

Jul 25, 2009 11:59

This is an older render that I posted last year sometime, I think. I decided to do some work on it a bit to make it a bit more suitable and a little less retina-burning bright, as well a fix a couple minor scaling issues with the dragon. This way, I can also use it as a wallpaper on my desktop without tiring my eyes out.

I just had a thought. (I know you didn't ask for recommendations this time, but I remember you asking for them previously when you posted on Quark.) The dragon just seems to sort of... appear... on the water. (The tail especially.) Perhaps if you added some sort of ripples around him to show that he's affecting the water?

Yeah, he does look kind of not-quite-right there. I may look into doing that-- we'll have to see. Might prove difficult to get the ripples on there and not have them look awkward with the rest of the water.

I'm also concentrating on a couple of other scenes right now, too, though.

Cool photo. I should figure out how to do something like this. it would give me a hobby. Either that or get back into drawing or music or something. (those require money though :P )

I think the water looks a bit glassy though...

You can download Bryce 5.5 for free here:

I use Bryce 6.1 for my stuff, but there are some ways in which 5.5 is better, some ways in which it's not. Anyway, you can get that there, and there are about a billion tutorials online for it. I can link you to some really good ones if you want.

cool. I'll have to try that out. I like doing art projects, even if I'm more musically inclined than in art. Music costs a lot more money to pursue though...
