Watching conference, it's good, and I decided to get the pictures off my camera while I was at it. So, I just took a picture of my front room, since I hadn't ever really done that. So, I'll show you guys.
Yeah, I agree. The RF power transfer idea is riddled with problems. Over small distances it's ok, but one of the major issues that this Kressin guy basically ignored, is that you lose A LOT of power by trying to transmit it over an RF band. He said they were getting 50-70% of the power used to transfer across the air-- that means that there's a 30-50% loss of power. That's quite a bit of energy you're paying for that you never actually use. Not to mention, doesn't transmitting it wirelessly also mean that someone could steal your electricity potentially? Granted, that's not very likely to happen, but still... It's like someone hijacking your wireless internet or something. I dunno. Still sounds really sketchy to me.
I do think the eCoupling idea thing sounds cool. I'd like to have one of those coils installed in my counter so I could just stick my laptop on it and not have to worry about having the cord with me everywhere.
Looks pretty good for a guy pad.eremitickApril 5 2007, 05:01:24 UTC
Looks like an above-average place to live, by BYU Housing standards. Do you live on "Condo row"? (I lived there for one Sp/Su term, at the NE corner of 750 N. 700 E.)
So, if everything in the living room is yours, how much of the kitchen have you furnished? Haha.

Yeah, I live on Condo Row. It's actually kind of a coincidence that most of the stuff that shows up in the picture is mine... I didn't really even think about it as I took the picture. Oh well-- but yeah, The rest of the furniture is the apartment's. ;) I only own a couple pots and pans in the kitchen-- I didn't buy many because I don't want them to get destroyed. I'm pretty possessive of my cooking utensils. ;)

Wireless power transfer
I still don't believe it would be possible on larger scale over larger distances in the next 20 years.
