So... how are we doing with this book? I myself have not started it yet, but I did buy it, and it is only 100 pages...

What should our process be for selecting the next book to read? Just take the #2 book from our previous survey? Have an abreviated survey? Just have me pick a book?

progress, book, book club

I think we should have a new poll, simply because times change. Let us get to Beowulf! After Harrious Potter the 7th, of course.

well if you were reading Harrius Potter et Philosophi Lapis, I would be seriously impressed.

New poll with all new books, or starting at the level of the first poll?

Oops! I didn't realize this was on. I'll hie myself hence to ye olde bookshope forthwith. Did we pick a translation, or are we all just going with our favorites?

We saw Harius Potterus in a shop in Bath, England, and brought it back to my brother, who has lamented that there was never a place to exercise his Latin. Ha! I don't know how they handle things like the spells, which have Latin roots, but it looked pretty entertaining!

annachronism, I think we unofficialy decided on the Seamus Heaney translation, because nobody objected when I proposed said version.

PS: When I finish the series, I'll make a Briscoe COunty jr post...pun central!

Hooray! I'm excited to read that translation.

A friend posted about something kind of cool called An Iliad--it's a retelling of the Iliad, which sounds like it won't make me want to poke out both of my eyes. Might be something for the next list?

P.S. Glad to hear you'll be horsing around with Briscoe County material. Can't wait!

So, I finally have the book, and I had no idea that the original language was in here, too.

And notes in the margin!

And family trees in the back!

Hooray for the graphic artist!!
