So, you ask, how did the duck go? Well, for starters, buying a duck at a Chinese store (Ranch 99) means that I got more duck than I'd expected. In particular, it had a head and feet. I don't know how to make jewelry from its bones, or I'd probably try that, too.

I'm impressed by your duck cooking. I can't believe you bought a whole duck, though. Did it still have its feathers? (It was from Chinatown, so I wouldn't be too surprised.) Did you have to clean out all its innards?

I got it from Ranch 99, not Chinatown, and it wasn't whole. It was gutted and plucked; really, just like buying an entire chicken or turkey at Safeway. The only difference was that the head and feet were present and attached, and the neck hadn't been removed and stuffed into the body, like you'd expect with a turkey. But for an Asian market, that makes sense--there's probably some tasty dim sum I could make with duck's feet.

I'm with you on every part of that except "tasty." Ok, I guess I've never had it but I can't imagine eating birds' feet. Blech!
