Sometimes I wonder if the major impact of the rise of Cultural Studies is a developing hyperawareness to cultural change. Maybe we have begun to worship what we set out to study? I imagine it as being something like a Victorian Era adventure novel, where an anthropologist sets out to study the intricacies of some remote people and in the end "goes native." Maybe that is the only way that any sort of analysis can end? I don't know, but I am going to check to see if Netflix has The Bodyguard.
Sometimes I think about folks like MaxEastman, and I realize how quickly and easily I could end my life as an ultra-right-wing anti-communist ideologue.
