Ok, lemmie just clarify something here. Why did Our Heroes have to fake their deaths at the beginning of the second episode? They were already cool with the President and the FBI and everybody ( Read more... )

Re: your second paragraph: I thought the same thing.

humanity wasn't successful in killing them all off in 1969

I think it's a fair bet they'll be back before the end of the season - too many unanswered questions.

Re: your second paragraph: I thought the same thing.

Yeah, I was just making sure, because we had to think on that one a bit. That second episode might have skipped over a few too many things.

It's hard for me to say at this point whether this episode was good or not, since it was just setting up a lot of things and left a lot of things unanswered. But it's got me looking forward to the rest of the season, so I guess that means it did its job.

Yes, it jumped about a bit and there were some things where it was unclear whether they had just not been explained or whether they were deliberately being left unclear to be resolved later in the season. But I trust Steven Moffat to tidy everything up more than I trusted Russell T Davies.

I'll also add that I liked how in the second episode, once we knew how the Silence worked, it showed it more from the POV of the characters forgetting them. The whole part with Amy in the orphanage was veeerry creepy.

(And I liked the poor Cajun guy. So we don't just have American accents now, we have different American accents!)

"Also, upon re-watching the first episode I realized that Amy saw an alien in 2011, which means humanity wasn't successful in killing them all off in 1969. Seemed like an imperfect solution to me anyway. As the Doctor said, they weren't stopping an invasion; they were *starting* a revolution. The first big jolt on that day in 1969, but then smaller jolts again and again thereafter, everytime the moonlanding footage gets shown on TV, for generations to come ( ... )
