I wish it were that simple. Learning a language takes a lot more than just reading a textbook. There's a lot of conceptual learning involved, understanding the how and why of certain things, etc. It's the sort of thing you need to be taught, not just read. :\
Well, yeah, I'm looking over all the material I have access to. But that isn't going to help me when I don't have that essential foundation to build upon, y'know?
She was "disappointed" in us for not having covered the first four chapters. It's like, hello! It wasn't really up to us, lady! But yeah, our first instructor was much more patient and understood how to explain a concept so we'd immediately understand its purpose and be able to apply it elsewhere.
