october seems to be a bad month for the bay area

so upon recent reflection which seems to be rather lacking from the local press, october has not been a very good month for the bay area.

it was one october 17th, 1989 when the loma prieta earthquake happened, centered near santa cruz but damaging many other parts of the bay area, especially near oakland and san francisco. i was six. i

You were six? That's so cute! ;D I was nine and lying on my stomach watching "You Can't Do That On Television." My baby sister Cristina was, well, truly a baby then -- just a month old and lying in her little carrier on the counter while my mom did kitchen work. We rushed to the nearest doorway.
