No Thanks, No Giving

As I mentioned in Random Fact #12, I don't celebrate Thanksgiving...or for that matter Columbus Day or the Fourth of July, as longtime readers are aware.

The next person's mileage varies obviously but to me it would be the equivalent of Africans commemorating the Fantastic Cruise we took to the "New" World.

Every time we make a choice in our lives to live a certain way, especially when we make that choice for moral or ethical reasons, people tend to view it as a threat - or rather, the accusation that by not making that choice, THEY are being called immoral. I'm sure it's defensiveness out of guilt ( ... )

When Thanksgiving to people mostly means turkey and football, why should they be upset you're not celebrating it? How does that effect them?

Man, I lOVED that scene from Addams Family Values! Man, Wednesday really kicked a lot of people face-down into their own bullshyt when she went off-script.

Besides, I don't even know why people would give you grief for not celebrating Thanksgiving. Hell, Black Friday's been getting a lot more shine than Yam Sham day this year alone.
