It was so strange to be outside at last. It wasn't how he had wanted to leave the hospital - Kakyou still had to go back to the wheelchair if he wanted to cover long distances - but it was still outside. The air was clean and free of medical odors, the sun was brilliant, and the noises of life surrounded him. It was incredible.
He made it to Lelouch's door after being dropped off by the medical shuttle, wheeling over to the door and knocking lightly. "Lelouch-kun?" he called.
Lelouch opened the door seconds later, holding Arthur as he smiled kindly down at the older man. Except that the smile froze for a few seconds. And then he instinctively brought his fingertips to his forehead, fighting a sudden migraine.
An old dream: a little girl running through the corridors of a beautiful palace. He loved her.
He loved her and...
Lelouch frowned, confused. It was the wheelchair, something about the wheelchair. Dizzy by the increasing migraine, he grabbed the doorknob and stepped back, reassuring smile back on his face.
Kakyou wheeled in slowly, looking around the room with that same small but happy smile. "You have a lovely place. And I didn't know you had a cat." He looked back at Lelouch, smile widening a little as he did. "Thank you again for letting me stay here."
Lelouch let Arthur drop to the floor and instinctively positioned himself behind the wheelchair, so he could push it deeper into the apartment. He was slowly feeling better again, and wasn't Kakyou's happiness contagious?
"You don't need to thank me... And this thing? Not mine. My friend leaves it under my care when he is busy with work." He stopped all of a sudden, giving Kakyou a concerned look. "You are not allergic to cats, are you?"
