Who: Kallen Stadtfeld and Lelouch Lamperouge Where: University When: Lunchtime Summary: Kallen's first day back to university; she and Lelouch eat lunch together. Rating: PG-ish?
Lelouch raised his violet eyes from his Meditations and contracted a corner of his lips in what could have been interpreted as acquiescence, spite, condescendence or a nervous tic.
Then he went back to reading his book, his own food forgotten before him in carefully arranged plastic ware.
Taking that as a yes, Kallen placed her tray opposite Lelouch, pulled the chair out, and sat down. She picked at her food, a bored, distant look on her face. The boy opposite merely ignored her, seemingly uninterested in her. Was he upset with her for approaching him here? Did he plan on meeting her later, perhaps? But why had he disappeared for those last six months? Not even a whisper of Zero was in the city, not even in the dark alleys or below the streets in the Abyss. Surely if he had been planning, he would have been detected by someone. And surely he would have sought the head of his guard, keeper of his secrets, and fellow classmate?
Kallen suspected his memory might have been altered. There was always the chance of that, which meant starting again from scratch. But the rebellion needed him, they needed Zero. So whatever had to be done was worth it.
After ten minutes of pushing her food around, Kallen finally broke the silence. "U-um...Lelouch Lamperouge?" she asked, giving him the blank face of her school
Lelouch looked up again. Now, what Political Science II’s Kallen Stadtfeld wanted from him? He closed his book with a soft thud and gave her an appraising look. He considered the untouched food for a while and wondered if she was feeling ill again, or nervous, or….
“It’s too early for Valentine’s.” He pronounced firmly, but he blushed badly as he said so. “And no, I’m not available. Eat your food.”
Then, avoiding eye contact for the time being, he decided that this was just the perfect time to concentrate on his own cold onion soup.
Kallen blushed a little, then frowned. "Actually," she said, a little bite to her voice, though also a little amusement, "I was going to ask if I might borrow your notes from class? I've missed a lot of classes, and you seemed like someone who would take reliable notes."
