Who: Mason, Shilo, and the GraveRobber [later]. Where: The Abyss. When: After this thread. Summary: The meeting between a dead-man, drug-dealer, and scared shut-in. Rating: R (Language). Other: Mason swears a lot.
"Right. More like a bird." Mason inwardly let out a sigh of relief that he found her before someone else did. Terrible things happened to girls and guys down here, if they didn't know how to protect themselves. And Shilo didn't seem like she quite knew how to look after herself, yet

"Little quick on the draw, aren't we, friend?" GraveRobber drawled, not in the slightest cowed by Mason's show of strength. He smiled, dark mouth against whiter teeth, no menace, here, no sir.
"The kid looks right to faint - you'd better pay attention to her." He cocked his head in Shilo's direction. Her words were lost on him - she was a stranger to him.
"Oh, I'm real - as real as the nose on your face." He said, after a moment, watching and waiting. "You need a little -- help, kid?"
Shilo was pale already but with the threat of an attack from her disease she was even whiter than usual. Her eyes moved quickly from the GraveRobber to Mason and then down at her shaking hands. Her medical alert bracelet went off and she quickly delved into the bag hanging from her shoulder to find the canister that held her medicine

"Quick to the draw to protect little bitties that don't know better." The bat continued to be pointed at the man before it lowered at the comment that Shilo appeared like she was going to faint. Mason turned completely around and watched her. Not so much in a horrified or scrutinizing manner, but watching in a way that suggested that if she did need help; he would be there to lend what little he had. Enough to blow off potential concern about his own well-being in turning his back on someone who may shank him for doing so

GraveRobber stood, mute and still, watching the scene play out before his eyes, the slight girl with her body failing her, and the flawed knight bowing to her service. It was quaint, really, such a thing happening here, in the streets of the Abyss.
"You're in a bad way," He said - in a clinical voice, straightening his shoulders and looking down the angle of his nose at her. "It's going to catch up with you, and soon."
"If this one is yours," A glance to Mason. "You had better keep fast hands on her and a faster reflex. A lot of people might be keen to remove her from your care."
If Shilo wasn't on the cusp of passing out, she would have been very concerned about Mason's drug habits and the way they affected his health. She'd be sure to remember to have a talk with him about all that later... if he still wanted her around. She didn't want him to hurt himself or even kill himself because of a high. har har"You're sure you don't mind having a sick kid follow you around?" she asked quietly, unsure of his words. She had to think a moment about his question though. Many diseases ran through her head before she finally got what he was asking her. She let out a shaky, laugh that ended in a cough

"No. I don't mind. I need a babysitter, anyway. And you seem reasonable and won't steal my shit when I pass out." Mason did not seem to mind too much about their audience. If only 'cause he figured that if something did happen, he would just get his revenge when he is conscious, again. "Glad that you're not contagious." It was supposed to be a friendly and heartfelt compliment. He wasn't quite sure how you cheered someone up who had a disease other than pointing out the good points of it

"You and I?" A gesture between himself and Mason. "A time or two." A shrug; he didn't register his clients by name and face in his mind, not usually. Mason was edging up there, considering his habits.
"I am only speaking the truth." GraveRobber went on, leaning against a nearby wall as if nothing troubled him. "Death is written all over that one."
Thoughts of her father swirled around in her head even though he was talking about her. He couldn't possibly know about Nathan being gone and yet, Shilo couldn't help feeling guilt and despair. She hadn't been thinking about it much thanks to all the distractions down here, but now that it was at the forefront of her mind all she felt was a crushing depression and the loss of her father.
Slinking behind Mason, Shilo peeked out from around his arm at the GraveRobber, "I'll be fine as long as I take my medicine."
"Huh." A thoughtful noise. Mason's memory was getting worse. He wondered if it was the new drugs that he was on or not. Was that a bad thing? Hm. "Well, then I was right to call you 'my friend', perhaps." Most of the people who he knew and did not like him generally tended to take a swing at his head or run away when they remembered that such violent actions didn't do much to him.
"Yeah, see, don't worry. You'll be an old bittie when you die." He lightly patted her on the head with his free hand before another poke in the direction of the man with his baseball bat. "Death's written all over everyone, friend. Fact of life that everything dies."
"If you say so." GraveRobber shrugged slightly before turning away from the pair.
"I have a feeling I'll be seeing you soon." He said, trailing with a laugh as he walked away, finding no more amusement in the two. And he had business to attend to, product to sell, guinea pigs to find. He could not stay still for long, no - not for long.
Forever restless in the Abyss; how long had it been since he last slept?
