Even before Shikamaru started to stir in his sleep and awaken, Itachi was making his way down the hallway with long languid steps. There was a faint tug of responsibility he held for his student, even if there was no like or dislike that was towards Shikamaru, simple apathy and common concern -- if such indifference could be described as much. The death of Shikamaru did not affect him, however he believed that he had to contribute to the auction, he was only thankful that the corpse cost a little amount, but money was not the issue.

When Shikamaru rose from the bed, sitting up, Itachi made his way to the door, leaning against the doorframe with his arms lazily crossed against his chest and the typical expression of carelessly gracing his features. He glanced at the condition Shikamaru was in and let out a low exhale, running a hand through his hair.

"How are you feeling?" He muttered. There was no concern in his voice, but the question was manifested due to common consideration towards his student.

Shikamaru had gotten pretty good at detecting Itachi even when the older man was trying to be sneaky, but he was so disoriented right now that the sound of the other's voice all of a sudden made him jump slightly and look over in alarm. "Sensei," he sighed when he saw Itachi in the doorway. He wasn't sure whether he felt relieved or not. He had questions for Itachi but he could have used a few more minutes alone to get a grip on reality.

Oh well. "I feel like crap," he answered honestly, face twisting into a scowl. "And I smell like crap too. I'm a freaking mess. Sorry about that, but... I don't remember how the hell I even got here." He straightened his back out of its slouch, almost as if he intended to rise, but in the end he decided to stay put.

Boredom flickered along Itachi visage as he saw the teenager jump -- perhaps minor disappointment; even with the other’s death there was obvious disappointment that creased his features. He tilted his head and looked at the state of the teenager, rolling his head against the wood, he let out the softest hardly audible snort. Even with the disappointment, there was a soft indication of sympathy that he reserved for Shikamaru, perhaps it was the thought that Itachi was not suited to be the teenager’s teacher -- yet, Shikamaru was foolish enough (despite how smart he was) to get himself killed.

"That’s no surprise." He stated afterwards and turned to leave the room, "...I’ll tell you once you clean yourself up." Was added as a afterthought and Itachi left the room to emerged back into the lounge room, resuming his place on the couch with the idly disinterest of typical activities.

It wasn't the first time Itachi had looked upon Shikamaru in disappointment and it probably wouldn't be the last. Shikamaru cringed inwardly anyway, because Itachi was his sensei after all and he couldn't help but want to impress the guy. And that definitely wouldn't happen if he kept finding himself stinking and passed out in Itachi's house for whatever reason ( ... )

Shikamaru was back the next day, just as ordered. The disorientation that had plagued him the day before was long gone. Actually, he felt like he was in remarkably good condition. Whatever muscle aches and bruises he'd had from previous training sessions had disappeared, so he felt fresh and... well, as energetic as he ever could manage to be. Not exactly excited, however. He hated the Abyss and only ever associated it with the trauma of his previous visit, when he discovered in the most violent way possible that his brother was immortal ( ... )

There was a specific reason as too why Itachi answered the door in his Akatsuki robe. One would never imagine such a attire would be needed, nor have any effect down in the Abyss and gone completely ignored, but nonetheless; the reason as too why was to provoke those in the Abyss, those that were namely bounty hunters. Because even in Elysium the Akatsuki were fear and untouched, down in the Abyss was completely opposite. People in Elysium that were curious -- and foolish enough -- to go down in Abyss were usually kidnapped and sold to clubs that experimented with sadomasochism, the black market, and human experimentation. The Akatsuki served a hefty price down there, and their attire was well known ( ... )

Shikamaru wasn't surprised when Itachi appeared wearing the most conspicuous clothing possible, but it was still disappointing. Meant more trouble for him, he was sure of it. But he didn't say anything about it, or anything at all. He just bowed in response to the nod that Itachi offered him and followed his sensei in silence. It was usually like this. He didn't have much to say to Itachi and Itachi never had anything to say to anyone. If they were going to converse, it would probably be only about the assignment ( ... )

It was probably the gawked expressions that were directed at Shikamaru’s so-called bravery that made the Uchiha snort lightly with bemusement -- the brim of his hat tilted upwards to gaze at the car briefly before letting it tilt towards Shikamaru briefly, then lowering his skull as though he had just lost interested in everything around him. "You’ll figure out soon enough." He muttered uncaringly as the subway stopped at Terra, and instantly, the car was empty ( ... )
