If derailing was an Olympic event.......privileged white folks would have that gold medal on lock.
I think I might be through fucking with them too. This isn't the first time I've seen asshattery from white folks on that site.
Shorthand: White commenter derails entire post on racism because someone said something mean about Stephanie Brown. White commenter claims misogyny by making misogynistic and racist statements about WOC being in a separate marginalized group from white women. White commenter gets called on racism and misogyny. Legions of other white folks jump in crying white woman tears and ignore and dismiss the racist and misogynistic slurs being hurled at WOC, on an "anti-racism" site.
And by the by, falsely claiming misogyny only when you get called out on making racist and misogynistic comments about WOC is 12 shades of fail. If there's one thing I detest more than Stephanie Brown, it's Stephanie Brown apologists who pretty much inevitably bring the bigoted fail each and every time. Not Stephanie Brown fans (because I know more than a few awesome ones who like the character and still acknowledge the racism and sexism at play), Stephanie Brown apologists. There's a huge difference.
And it's also ironic that defending the whitewashing of POCs for white characters on Racebending (the site that was launched in response to Avatar: The Last Airbender whitewashing fiasco).
And between there and Debunkingwhite, it's interesting how POCs can't speak out against racism without white folks trying to shut them down. Ask me again why I'm through with predominantly white social justice circles.
As I stated yesterday, I'm about two seconds away from penning comic book fanfic myself. It's clear that the shotcallers in comics have no intentions of addressing the bigotry in comics and it is too tragic to see so many extraordinary POC and LGBTQ characters remain shelved. This would be a small way of giving back to my fellow marginalized comic book fans. Right now my own work takes precedent and I don't have a plot for any fanfics. But if I become inspired to pen a short gem or even a longer one and it's solid, I definitely won't rule it out. And speaking of writing, since it's Friday and it's sorta become a trend, here's my weekly update. Empyrea edits are coming along. Working hard to make sure everything is on point. Going slowly but surely, but it is going. I've also had some ideas brewing for the sequel and I'm really excited about it. However I decided I wanted to do another story before jumping back into Empyrea (so I don't get burned out on a universe I love immensely). Given the events, I think once I'm done with the edits, I'm going to continue with the original plan and proceed with the comic book novel story that features the gay superhero and the teen black superheroine as its main protagonists. Because that's a story that's clearly desperately needed. And I think it'll be fun too. I have a very rough outline worked out in my head. I just need to work on fleshing it out and hopefully I'll be ready to go once I'm finished with Empyrea.
Gaylaxicon/Outlantacon is next week. I've been waiting for that all year. I'm really excited. Not too many places where I can enjoy being a gay geek. And there aren't too many gay spaces where being a POC is safe, so I'm stoked. I think I should do some business cards to have on hand. What do you all think? Nothing fancy, just something inexpensive with my info. Also I'm proud to announce, my official website is live. Still looking to add more content but it's up right now. Also to my pro-writer friends, if you have official websites and want to be added on the blogroll, drop me a line and let me know. And how about a little eye candy of the random hawtness variety to end this post and kick off the weekend on a note of awesome. Y/Y?!!!!

Life is too short and I'm just not going to be arguing with any more derailing dumbass white folks on their misogyny and racism on Speshul White Liberal Social Justice Circles. Not after this week.
