As promised, I'm here to give a thorough rundown and review of Jui Guoliang's Chinese Tarot deck. I'll be showing scans of most (though not all) of the cards, which are hopefully small enough to not err... incur un-fair usage... but I do encourage you to click through and take a look at the very nice artworks even if you don't read my humongous

The references I recognize, I agree with. Though maybe in practice it would have come out too mix-and-match for a tarot deck?

But seriously, how can you not have Guanyin as High Priestess?

And thank you, Wikipedia, for teaching me that Mahayana Buddhism absorbed her into the pantheon from her "pagan" roots, kind of like Christmas. ^^;;

They actually have her as The World, which you'll see a couple entries later. I don't agree with it but it certainly is purdy :3

At any rate, much of this deck is more of a "tarot translated to Chinese terms" rather than a "tarot deck of Chinese stuff". It's not a method I prefer, but I can understand why (namely, it's easier to sell to a western audience).

Hi! I realize I'm a bit late to the party, but did you ever complete the translation of the Chinese Tarot deck? Or do your own deck? Love to see it if so! Thanks for the info here, it explains why some of the images don't match the LWB. I'm sure one day soon google translate will be good enough to help, but not yet!
