It's Not about Pasta (BBC!Sherlock/Lestrade)

Aug 05, 2010 02:57

So I've been watching the new BBC series 'Sherlock', and, despite a few quibbles I've really been enjoying myself.  The casting, in particular, has been very good.  Which leads me to the fic that somehow got itself written by me when I was least expecting it.  Completely unbetaed, too, so whatever I didn't catch in my read-through will end up in ( Read more... )

Hooray! I'm thrilled you liked it, and that you were the first person I got a review from.

As another huge fan of snark, and a fan of your own brand of snark, thank you! The reason I love the new Lestrade is that he doesn't have the class barriers that classic Lestrades have struggled with (and, with one wondrous exception, failed to deal with properly). He can be just as snarky and just as blunt as Sherlock, because there's no reason for him to be polite. And I love that about them, because Sherlock really does need to be taken down a few notches, and Lestrade seems up for that challenge.

And they go rather well together. IMO.

Thanks! Good to know that the sex worked, as it's a part of writing I'm not altogether comfortable with, so when I get told it made someone incoherent I get a bit glowy.

I love love LOVE this :) Lestrade is absolutely a neglected character, and you managed to get him perfectly in this :) Loved the voices overall, they just perfectly fitted the characters. Love Lestrade's kind of weary resigned-ness to Sherlock, which is exactly how he acts in the series. :)

And then the smexing was hot, and somehow, exactly how I can imagine the two of them behaving were such a situation to occur. We need more fic with Lestrade in it :) Thanks for adding to the whole.

Very welcome! I'm a fan of Lestrade from way back, and tend to search out any fic with him in it. I'm happy that you thought the voices were right, because I considered them to be the most important part of the story. Without them it's just random porn.

I'm thrilled that the situation worked well for you, and that you enjoyed!

Next time you tell me you can't write porn I shall give you one of my looks. This? Snarky and in-character sexiness. A lovely, lovely read to start my day.

And if more ideas occur in this fandom? You have a devoted beta who is always ready, willing and able, remember. (Not that there'd have been much I'd have caught in this, since it's typically Nemo!smooth...)

Great story, mate!

YOU! I had no idea you'd beta this fandom, but that's awesome! And I'm trying to work my way into the porn. Good to know I'm on the right track and can avoid pulling my hair out. I can't say that any more ideas are striking me right now, but that might change after Sunday. We shall see, Rabbit. We shall see . . .

Oh, and the last line is a total tribute to you. Just so you know.

Hey, at this point I'll beta pretty much anything you write. (The only restrictions are fandoms I'm not familiar with, where I might miss fandom-specific stuff. But even then I'd be happy to do the nuts and bolts.)

To be frank, I probably wouldn't have read a fic labelled Sherlock/Lestrade if it hadn't also been labelled 'by Nemo'. I'm elitist like that. Anyway, by George you pulled it off!

Having just been working on 'Reversal', I wondered about the last line! Delighted to have inspired in my own small way. :)

Thanks! Glad I pulled it off. It's always hard to write the off-pairing, but then again it really allows you to do things other people aren't doing. Holmes/Watson has SO MANY FICS that it's almost impossible to come up with something new. With an off-pairing you're far more likely not to get lost in the shuffle.

And, yeah, when I was trying to come up with that last line, your line from 'Reversal' kept popping back up, and it just seemed to fit Sherlock so well. So it was my little tribute to you and your awesomeness.
