And we're back to depressed.

Oct 06, 2008 17:45

I went to the physical therapist for the pain I feel at my right hip... I thought at least he would know what the problem is, but he seemed puzzled. That makes me very nervous. I'm not supposed to have that pain, blablabla, how many times have I heard those words??? Are we ever supposed to feel pain? I mean, come on! If it was "normal" pain, I ( Read more... )

You're a beautiful woman. I don't think gaining weight will change that. Not that it means you have to like the idea of gaining, but you'll always be that pretty lady we see in the photos, and we'll still love you the same.

*hugs from Tokyo*

I worked hard to be more healthy, looking better is just a good side-effect. I want to have energy and be healthy and feel good about myself. I feel like I'm prisoner of my body.

Lucky you, in Tokyo!

That can't be easy. I wasn't trying to negate your feelings. I was trying to say that maybe you can take comfort knowing your friends still think you're wonderful anyway. ^_^

I know and thank you. I was just so depressed that... well, the flesh eating bacteria did so much damage 26 year ago and I never thought I'd have to deal with anything related to this again. It brought back bad stuff, like that feeling of helplessness.

It's possible you are having hip problems due to the old operations. About 5 years ago, my mom started having hip problems due to neck injuries she got in an accident back in the early 70's.

The neck injury caused her to change her natural walking gait, this caused the hips to misaligned and therefore cause the sharp pain years later. Physical therapy helped her out quite a bit, so hopefully, it will do the same for you.

I'd tend to agree with this.

We often used to get patients in who developed serious back problems due to old injuries or previous surgery. It's very possible that the natural volume & movement of your tissues has changed since those operations, especially if you had tissue removed. It never fully develops exactly the same. This may have been slowly damaging a nerve over a long period of time.

Physical therapy and nerve anti-inflammatories like Gabapentin are useful, although there is a high risk of side effects with that particular drug.

I hope they can work it out for you. Don't make me come over there and fix you!!

Yeah, I have a hole in my leg, so... I guess it could have an effect. It made me cry because I thought I was done with that horrible disease, it was a real nightmare.

I wish!

* HUGS *

We haven't really been able to catch up with each other. I've been away from LJ quite a bit and trying to get back on the saddle. It's a big problem in my mind since it's about the only way I can keep regular contact with you. I really need to fix this, especially since you need your friends now. I can't make an overseas trip at the moment, but keeping in better contact with you is something I can do.

Please feel free to IM me any time. It will be great to hear from you!

Thanks, I don't chat much these days... I have a lot to do with school and hair. It's all so lonely though! I'll say hi if I see you online and I have some time. Thanks for the hug!!!

Does the therapist even forbids you "non-traumatic" sports like swimming?
Working out has good effect on the mood because of the endorphine, so even without thinking of looks, it's not good if you have to stop because you don't get your "dose" :(

I hope you find ways to keep seeing people and doing things that make you happy.

*hugs*

He didn't forbid anything. Even if I wanted to, I suffer too much to even take a walk. I'll try swimming, but it's not as easy... I don't drive and there's no pool nearby. I'm in the country. ;) Even if I could go there by bus, I can't climb the steep hill to get to the bus stop. :( I'll try to find a time to go with my husband, but hmmm... it's not that simple.

Ack! No fun. Though I'd question the need to cease all physical exercise. My sister has a lot of knee pain, but part of it is because she's not exercising it. Doing less strenous exercise might be an option (like swimming or yoga/pilates). Did he discuss any kind of physical therapy, or are you waiting to see if reducing activity will affect the pain?

It's frustrating when doctors tell you they don't know what's wrong. :/ Like it isn't their job or something.

Well, I can't do anything, it hurts! He gave me some stretching exercises to do until next week, to see if it helps.

I understand that they can't know right away what's wrong. There are so many possibilities. But yes, it's still frustrating. :(
