Okay, this is not my usual thing, but I found a good article, so I'm reposting it.

An easy way to save on fruits and vegetables is to buy what's in season. Here's a guide to help you identify the best produce deals month-by-month:

Yes! I'm definitely into eating seasonally. At first it was a bit tedious to eat pumpkins and potatoes and swedes all winter, but then the sheer level of excitement I had over the spring's first zucchinis (if that's the plural of zucchini).

(Of course, the seasons are the other way 'round for me...)

But what is this "start to look at imported mangoes" business, hmm? Isn't the main non-budgetary reason to eat seasonally about food miles - avoid the imported summer fruits in winter, due to the carbon created by the shipping thereof?

Yes and no. Keep in mind that at this point, imported oranges, say, from Chile or Argentina, is about equivalent, price-wise, to oranges from Florida.

So it's more watching what comes in, when, and where.

I'm going to have to see how much this is accurate.
