I'm reading a new webcomic. Why? Because of things like this, which even now is making me giggle insanely.

The Daleks are attacking! Actually, they're drowning.

Actually, they're dead. It's a fun story, though.

Also, people who obsess on Nicolas Cage write some damn funny stuph.

Law & Order now has a UK version? The hell? (That's a whole ( Read more... )

The series is real. It debuted the other week on ITV1. And it's the real deal.

The stars of the UK show are big name UK drama actors, including Bill Patterson (Sea of Souls) and Freema Agyeman (Doctor Who, Torchwood).

I still don't understand the whole "a baby died"/*cops look down*/*camera pans to Paddington Bear* bit, but hey, maybe it's a British thing, they're not allowed to show dead children or something.

But yes, Patterson and Agyeman I recognized, and also Jamie Bamber. Wild.

You're correct. about twenty years ago a British TV presenter, Esther Rantzen, forced a niggling change in the law which forbids British TV from showing dead children in any way, shape or form.

So dead children do not exist anywhere, not even in war zones or countries stricken by famine, because Esther Rantzen wished it all away.

And that is why everyone hit the roof with that one Doctor Who episode, with the undead children--because that would be very close to the line on 'can't show dead kids'.

Meanwhile, over here, that's our cue that this is a highly polished parody--because of course, you'd see something if it were a 'real' dead child--a tiny bloodied or bruised hand, at the least, if nothing else. The Paddington Bear moment was what had me wondering if it were real, because--to our eyes--it was patently ridiculous.

I'm quite fond of Law & Order UK. It might just be because the British legal system differs from the system in the US but I find it refreshing.

Star Trek fragrances? No surprise. How about Torchwood fragrances?
