And tired. Did I mention tired? Mostly tired and busy. Problems on the home front here and there resolving, like that. Anyway.

This article (on Sarah Palin's religion of choice) led me to this article on how she may well be the first Charismatic Christian on a national ticket, which led me to this article with the lovely quote from John AllenRead more... )

No, it really, really won't.

She does have that ready-to-eat-your-soul smile, doesn't she?

And I hadn't heard about Cumming. *That* is prime indication of how bad things have gotten.

You may not be wrong.

Let alone the great fear with Quayle--that Bush Sr., with his bad heart, could literally die on the job--and then we'd have "Danny-Boy" president.

Same fear with McCain at this point. He's in his seventies--his upper seventies. He looks unwell. He looks shaky.

She could walk up behind him and bang a metal trash-can lid loudly behind him and he might drop dead. And then we'd have the Palin Presidency.

Terrifying thought.

In re: Russell Brand - did you watch the broadcast? That article is NOT accurate!! The gorgeous, sweet and wonderful Brand did NOT do anything remotely like apologizing - the quotes were taking out of context from his sarcastic and fairly filthy rebuttal - he also continued to "apologize" in the same vain in follow up interviews

I didn't. Yay for Brand, then--that's quisling corporate revisioning at its worst.

I mean, hell, a band that's *known* for wearing 'promise rings'? Look, I'm all for people who genuinely believe they'll be happier partners in relationships with zero experience--but the whole 'promise ring'/'promise bracelet' phenomenon is just wrong. And what's more, many of the girls polled consider virginity starts and ends with the hymen--they have no problem with oral sex.

In my book? Forget whether they've been 'broken in' or not--if they've had oral--or, for some, anal--THEN THEY'RE HAVING SEX.

Yeah, the actual quote was:

" I didn't meant to take it lightly. I don't want to piss off teenage fans. i want to do the opposite of that. by the opposite of that I don't mean i want to piss on teenage fans..."

and it went on from there.
He later "apologized to the AP" saying something to the effect of "nobody have sex. Ever. What a mad thing to do with your evening."...
love that boy. What must he be thinking of America? The whole freak out is pretty freaky...especially with the fairly thorough covering up that's gone on after....this is MTV, for the love of @!#$.

but...yeah...the whole thing is pretty hypocritical. Abstinence as a trend...kids, you're supposed to lie to your friends about having sex...not about not having it.

Well, this is the country that went through Nipplegate, remember. Americans? We're freaks. And not usually in any good way.
