It's been an interesting year. I won't say it wasn't necessary. I thought I understood privation, poverty, what's necessary in a life; I did not. Fighting for this has brought us down to the base important things in a life: Shelter. ( Read more... )

Long hard struggle, long hard struggle.

Would I rather she be walking, than gain disability? Obviously. So would she. But it's going to start to get easier, now, and that's the important thing.

Oh, I am SO glad you didn't have to wait 20 months for an appeal like I did.

Start checking your bank balance every couple of days. (If you have an account that is.) The money shows up before they send you the decision letter, or at least that's how it worked after my appeal was granted.

We bought a bed with my back pay and it has definitely been worth it. we both rest better now. And we upgraded our machines so I no longer curse at mine while it grinds away at something. Definitely a mental health bonus.
