Actually, there *are* clues in the text that Dumbledore is gay, if you want to go by "stereotypes."

When he looks at himself in the pensieve, he is amazed at the "flamboyant" way that he dressed when he was younger.

And, when he and Harry start to tell everyone that Voldemort are back, and the ministry is trying to repress it, the first thing they do his question "the kind of relationship he is having with Harry and whether or not it is appropriate." It's even hinted at blithely in the Daily Prophet that Dumbledore has taken "inappropriate interest" in one of his male students.
Which is the first thing that people do to homosexual men in our society when they want to slam them for something-- they accuse them of being pedophiles.

I've thought too much about this, can you tell?

Okay, but, those are both examples from the seventh book.

Name any incidence from the first six and I'll buy it as more than Rowling losing her fangirl mind.
