head. on. fire.

you know what the sad thing is? I thought my meds weren't really working. I mean, the two meds I was on with migraine-suppression as side effects? Didn't stop the three to four bad migraines per month, so wtf?

I was wrong.

I was really wrong ( Read more... )

*gentle-quiet-hug*

I still have migraines, but they've been cut way back. I also had a chronic headache that lasted (I kid you not) over a year...it would "spike" to almost migraine levels at the same time every day for about 45 minutes and then go back to the headache from hell level it was the rest of the time. (I tried changing my eating habits, times, caffene levels, etc...nothing changed the time of the spike. Weird, huh?)

One of the things that helped break the cycle AND reduce the number of migraines was taking a calcium/magnesium suppliment. I took double doses for about a week, then moved to the regular daily dose.

It broke the cycle. I kept on the regiment for about a year... Best of all, there were no side effects. It's something you might want to look into.

Migraines are beginning to pick up frequency again though. Seems I need to follow my own advice and start it up again.

Part of the problem with the migraines--and the general body breakdown--is that I went off all my prescription meds, and then, once they ran out, all my vitamins and supplements.

Last week--partially due to other issues, but it became significant--I had a couch-based breakdown, and what came out of it was, I've been sacrificing a lot of my own needs, because Cat needed to be supported through losing her job, and while I don't regret that, I need to be proactive about my own needs, especially medical--because I'd been three weeks off all prescriptions, plus calcium, magnesium, A, E, C and D, and glucosamine--among others.

I'm now back on gluco, and taking double doses in order to hopefully get the joint weirdness under control. But everything else? Still missing.

No joy on the shuttle power supply, 'cos encapsulate never gave me the stats...I'm told a kid here stocks 'em, though...

You have my sympathy, sweetie.

Quite a few times when I had a real bad one, I was reminded of Stephen King's Needful Things. There's a woman in there who has arthritis so bad that on several occasions, she's considdered amputating her arms. Whenever I get the real bad one, I think of that woman and wonder what it would take for me to really want to amputate my head. Hey, send me your physical address and I'll send you some migrainey-stuff. I have a feeling that there's something here you could really use. fireincarnation@gmail.com

Nobody has one. In fact, hank_riker is blatantly telling me, No head choppy!

Everyone's so mean.

But it is slightly improved today. Which is a good, good, good good GOOD thing.
