and the first thing you know, you're in it up to your neck

Just as a tip I'll throw out there...got back, couple hours ago, from the Third Thursday movie night at FG. litlbuddha and mutaytedjoe...I know we don't always agree on movies, but I think you guys would really like Crash. It's excellently done, phenomenally acted, and, considering most of the characters start off as repellent bastards, really emotionally involving ( Read more... )

I can see why it won. Controversy aside.

Tell me you're not buying the 'Brokeback didn't win because of Straight White Male Homophobia' theory. Please say it ain't so...

Nope, didn't even go there. Remember, I didn't watch the Oscars. I'm just hearing rumors third-hand, and the biggest rumor I heard was that Crash's multiple production teams bribed the Oscar judges, thereby buying themselves the Oscar.

I don't believe this, but thus, there is controversy around the film. And hey, bribery of what is supposed to be a peer-driven review process is a bigger ill in my mind than being snubbed because of X reason. (Because I still believe The Color Purple was snubbed because of Spielberg, at the time, not being considered a "serious" director.)

Okay, admittedly, the dress itself isn't that bad, because the lines are nice, the cut is good, the effect of the feathered train is interesting.

Maybe it's just that I despise the person in it so much, it carried over. And then there's the shedding peacock feathers everywhere thing. :)

Actually, I'd wear almost all of these. For Halloween, granted, but I would. Except for Tim Burton. Whom I would wear anytime.

All right, I'm a snob. I admit it. But that cat was wearing crochet, not knit.

I know not enough to distinguish such things. So, erm, they didn't make that clear?

No, they mostly marveled that they got the stuff on the cat and it held still for photos. Technique wasn't mentioned. Like I said, I'm a snob. They probably didn't look past "worked yarn on a cat! Hey, I can make that funny!"

Well, yeah, I do the same thing with fashion shots....and me, I didn't even catch it past "Look--funny yarn thing!"
