it's good to see you, I must go

First it was on its way into a zine. Then it was on the auction block for Astrea's Kansas move. Nothing came of the zine or the auction. Finally, I got around to coding it and slapping it up online.

If you wanted to know what the fuss was about...you can now read Yield. Spike/Xander, clocks in fourth- or fifth-season-ish, maybe a tad later, ( Read more... )

That last pic is not conducive to making me want to buy anything by that designer at all. Honestly, leave the corpses where they are! Live models need work!

Also, I am just now noticing the frequency of the word "creation" in the captions. I think the captioneers don't know what to call this stuff either.

For future reference, here's how to parse out fashion terms:

"Outfit" generally means two pieces, though not always, and something geared for the younger set. This is slippery, and gets vague, but generally that's what they mean.

"Design" generally means something haute couture that is puzzling to the reviewer. It's by a name they know, but...WTF is it? It gets named "design".

"Creation" means it's not haute couture or not by a household name. They're not only struggling with WTF is it, they're generally not sure if it's attire, wearable art, or something the model dragged in from the back-alley dumpster. "Creation" gets slapped on a lot of runway pics, because they can't think of a better way to say "This? Is implausible, ill-fitting, and dubious at best. Don't buy it" positively.

And ensemble is the same thing as creation, only in French?

Pretty much. "Ensemble" isn't heard with one-tenth the frequency of "creation", but the same idea--"We have no clue what this is, but...um...it's walking around."

The last pic makes the pro-ana necrophilliac in me say "YES SIR!".

Not really.

First 9 minutes of Serenity... so awesome. I will need to watch it again this weekend. Perhaps two times.

I have to wait until december for this to be DVDed?

The sadness.

I weep.

You are not alone. On t'other hand, I wongled $6.25 out of Cat to go see it tomorrow. Again. (Hey, it's in the nature of a balancing move--somewhat. She gets her new slave in a room for the weekend with a hot tub; I get to go see Serenity again. We both think we got the Good Deal in the arrangement. :) )

So yay...registering more tickets for the Big Damn Movie!

And then the endless...waiting...OMG...when the hell is the DVD going to be released...give me the soundtrack already...NOW, DAMN IT!

December's going to be rough in other areas, too. Buying the DVD then--NO question--but then, what to do? See Goblet of Fire on the theatre screen, or hop down to OMSI and see it in IMAX? What to do, what to do...

Oh my god! Is The Odyssey paperback out already!? I bought the hardback when it first came out a couple months ago..should've waited. It would've been cheaper.

I hear there was a prequel to The Odyssey - I think it was called The Iliad or some such... I started reading it awhile back, but never got around to finishing it.

I have words. teal_cuttlefish October 9 2005, 07:10:44 UTC
For your no words picture:

1) every young child needs to see hir mother in peasant dominatrix clothes.

2) the description only mentioned the model. The kids were wearing matching clothes; the boy reflected the colors and the girl reflected the peasant part. But they weren't mentioned. Are children accessories now?

Don't answer that; I know people who think babies are accessories. They get very frustrated when the accessory turns out to have its own timetable and needs. And that it grows and they have to keep raising it.

Are children accessories now?

Yes, and apparently very trendy ones. Who knew? But then they grow larger than handbag size, and people flush them down toilets, and they prowl the sewers restlessly, eating rats...wait, that's alligators.

What happens to kids once they grow past handbag size? I've never figured that part out. Teenage kids want kids to adore, basically living dolls, but then they start being independent little beings...what then?

every young child needs to see hir mother in peasant dominatrix clothes.

See, and I thought that would only be true for mommies who are dominatrices already. On the other hand, they don't look like a lot of kids that are handed off for a presentation--these two look like they're actually thrilled to be there.

Or at least the little girl does.

No problem. I worked my ass off to get that story as perfect as possible, and...it ended up going nowhere. I had to do something with it. :)
