no fashions today, they've gone away

Actually, not completely--New York's over, but London's just gearing up. And I can always grit my teeth and review the Emmy fashions...because I forgot to watch the Emmys! My gods. Awful. Tell me--did Jon Stewart win??

Jon Stewart did win, twice. He gave a very cute speech and was, for the most part, disturbingly hot.

Wow. Hot as in "Steamed", or hot as in "I'm damp"?

Heh

Yes, there are those of us who think Jon Stewart is the geeky dreamboat at large, especially with the growing silver flashes at the temples and the confidence he's gained by vicariously kicking political ass all these years.

So phhht to you and your bad avoidance puns. You just don't want to admit he's hawwwwwt. :)

Fear and the prefontal cortex:

"Imagine reducing the ability of distressing events, such as amputations, to be permanently imprinted in the brain."

Does that mean that you'd be surprised every time you realize that your missing limb or body part is not there?

I fail to see the tragedy in not watching the Emmys. I make a point of it.

Love the Bill Maher Rant, but your Windows link is busted. I found it on jennybean42's journal.

And OKCupid hates me, as usual, but I almost always show up as CG. I'll try one more time: "Couldn't get tracker." I have absolutely no idea what that error message could possibly mean. And right now there's an ad with a beetle on it crawling across the screen. I had to do something -- I really really hate beetles. After I got sucked over to freeipods, I tried signing in and discovered that at the moment OKCupid has lost its entire database of tests. Wow, I can kill a server from states away!

By 'busted', do you mean YouSendIt tells you the link's not available, or that the actual file won't work? I've been having a problem getting WMP to play files, so I've been running the Quicktime versions of things. I know the Quicktime version works.

Yeah, I know. This does not seem to me to be a good thing. Or to have one distressing thing happen, go get your brain deprinted, then have to have that same distressing life experience again, because the lesson didn't register the first time! Ack.

I fail to see the tragedy in not watching the Emmys. I make a point of it.I'm an awards-show junkie. Cat's done a lot to reduce it, so right now my big ones are the Emmys, the Grammys and--on occasion, if we've seen the films--the Independent Film ( ... )

The Windows link needs an "h" on the front, it says ttp://etc. So I couldn't get there from here.

On the other hand OK Cupid now has a database, so I'll take that test in a little bit -- IF the database stays there when I sign in!

because I forgot to watch the Emmys! My gods. Awful.

How odd. I've never watched the Emmys. I take it that's something like the Oscars?

Jon Stewart did win, twice.

That's amazingly cool...

Japanese plan to blow up world. European Union strongly clapping from sidelines.

{Jon Stewart voice}: Oh those silly, silly Japanese...

That Bill Maher piece had me laughing out loud several times... As the wife's injured ears will attest. Coolness.

The Oscars, that's the award show I forgot when I was listing 'em off to teal_cuttlefish. Yeah, the Emmys are TV, the Oscars are movies, and the Tonys are plays. :)

Aha. Thanks. I don't keep up with this sort of thing.
