Wow... great fic. Almost had me welling up near the end, the Doctor being so broken and vulnerable :(

The Master's cruelty is so in-character here, and I could practically hear him speaking those words and imagining the look on his face as he does.

Thank you!

I really need to write some happy oneshots, I think, but I'm always too interested in the cruelty and the brokenness and the general being-rather-fucked-up-ness of them. So there will probably be quite a few that make you almost well up, I'm afraid...! If I ever manage to title them all, of course.

I love this fic....just what I needed on a damp miserable morning...thank you!

I can't get enough of The Doctor's angst at what he did in the Time War and I love the whole premise of this fic - that he forgives everybody because he can't forgive himself.

Taking a breath that tasted of heat and metal and the breaking of Time...

Perfect imagery…very well done…I hope you write more.

I'm really glad someone else liked that line - it's possibly my favourite out of the whole fic.

And the story came out of that premise - I was lying in bed one night and suddenly though of it and had to go scrambling over to my desk to jot it down so I wouldn't forget it the next morning. And then wrote a story to explore it - so it;s a good thing you like it!

And thanks a lot for the comment. I'm glad I could make your morning better!

Great story, and the ending is very chilling. Poor Doctor.

He forgave, and forgave, and forgave, and it wasn’t normally this easy...

Excellent catch on the history of the Doctor's past interactions with the Master --- other than Ten's desire to forgive the Master for Ten's own special reasons, there was never any forgiveness of the Master in prior Doctors. Nice work.

The Time War angst is one of the main reasons I am so much more into new Who than old (though I still like classic for nostalgia). It adds a depth of character and motivation to him that was sorely lacking before.

I was really not liking 11 until he started showing some of that angst as well. Now that I see that the new Doctor won't be going back to just bopping around the universe without depth (something I was worried about with Moffet taking over) I am going to really like 11.

Again, I am in awe of your ability to write, your command of the language, and the imagery you evoke. Are you published IRL? You certainly write better than about 99% of the pro stuff I read.
