Snippets of the night drifted in and out of her mind like the coming and going of the tides. She thought she remembered waking up in a bed somewhere, screaming for Jack, and her father’s… no, Barbossa’s… hands smoothing her hair, his creaking voice crooning a lullaby, birds and butterflies picking out little lamby’s eyes and pretty horses, as he soothed her back into the embrace of dreaming. -- Oh, this is haunting.

I love the descriptions, your Barbossa, and that he cares about her like a father would. Brava! *adds to memories*

I adore Barbossa, especially after AWE. My dirty old man thing for Geoffrey Rush most assuredly helps there. I'm thinking that Jack helped about in the legend about how evil he was, whether or not he meant to.

It's all this real work, Lady P, that's making me mix up my references. Bloody braindead this week. There were two originally, one alluding to Macbeth, but the Blake reference won out. I owe you a ficlet.

I'm tickled someone caught the Blake reference. That was one of my favourite quotes in high school.
