So I went and saw the midnight premiere of Transformers: Dark of the Moon last night. It was.... it was something else. It was not what I expected at all-- I'd made a point of studiously avoiding plot spoilers-- and it left me with a lot of thoughts and feelings jouncing around in my head. S-so many feelings ( Read more... )

Incidentally, going by (what other people have said about) the adaptations, Skids and Mudflap were originally going to be killed alongside Ironhide before they were cut from the movie.

'Course, Barricade was originally going to die alongside Bonecrusher, and look what happened there. So I say the twins, and Jolt who nobody's mentioned, were there all along but always standing just offscreen.

Yeah, I've heard the same thing about Skids and Mudflap. It sounds like they were shot into the movie, but then were left out of the final cut. Supposedly they show up at the back end of an Autobot caravan going somewhere early on, but I didn't notice them if they did. So technically they're around and die, but hey, if it didn't make it into the final cut of the film, I still consider it a plothole.

Yeah, poor 'Cade. He died alongside Soundwave in this one, instead. ):

I have to admit, I'm kind of amused by the thought of Jolt (less the Twins) being there the whole time and just never making it into the frame. "Guys? Hey, guys? C'mon, pan the camera over here, I'm an Autobot too! Guys....?"

--Oh, and as long as I'm telling you things you may or may not already know, apparently "Dino" was at Ferrari's request. Seems they've already licensed the rights to make Ferrari toys to Mattel, and they figured Mattel would probably want to market a "this is the dude from a recent hit summer blockbuster" car, which is a lot harder if one of your competitors owns said dude's name.

Maybe they'll come back as Soundblaster and... um... Twin...cade.

Hey, that seemed to be how he spent most of ROTF!

Yes, this is another thing I was aware of! I suppose it does make sense, and it doesn't, like, horribly offend me or ruin my girl-boner for the character, it just annoys me a little. Dino is so not an appropriate name for a Cybertronian. x___X But hey, what chance does continuity stand against marketing?

.......I now desire to read fanfic about the adventures of Soundblaster and Twincade.

GOOD POINT. Poor Jolt. No one loves you.
