Good or not? And if good, why?

I haven't really felt the urge to watch, but then I didn't when SGA started either, so I can't really rely on that feeling. ;)

Trouble is, had I watched Sanctuary chronologically, I prolly would have given up. Actually, I did, if you count the webisodes. But then Ashley wasn't as cool in the webisodes...

Ha, I also only made it to episode three! It's not that bad, but it's not exactly charming. You could pretend that Wallace and Scott are McShep. Other than that, I don't really care about it.

I just read that some people refer to it as SGEwww. It lacks appeal because there are no middle-aged people on it, IMO, just teenagers and old, bitter people.

Looks like I'm in the minority because I love it. It's definitely a different feel than SGA or SG-1, so I think that's put some Stargate fans off. But I look forward to it every week. I'd say watch the pilot & see what you think.

eta: I've recced 2 vids, if you want to see what the show looks like. Sometimes I'll watch a vid to help me decide if I feel like trying a show.

The reason I posted this post in the first place was actually because I watched a vid you recced! Vids are awesome pimping tools, though I've gotten more reluctant to watch over the years due to spoilers.

I'll prolly end up watching it at some point, maybe just not now.

I despise SG:U utterly, and I mean utterly. It is actually the worst television I have seen all year, and that's saying something.

You know me, I loved SG-1 and SGA like mad.

It's not well written, it's not covering any new territory (oh gee, a band of Stargate personnel stranded somewhere after going through the gate into an unknown terrain. That's NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE EVER) - none of the characters are either interesting or likeable, so much of it is a clear rip off of Battlestar Galactica without actually understanding what made BSG a good show. The producers apparently think if you just show some dark, broody looking camera angles that it's instantly GREAT TELEVISION.

Their geek is some pasty, completely uncharming shadow of Rodney McKay and his sole skill is PLAYING VIDEO GAMES which apparently qualifies him to know all about the Stargate.

It's also a hell of a lot more racist and sexist than the previous two shows.

I did a write up of the pilot over here at my journal and I give it an F minus, because it SUCKED MORE
