My dad is gone. I got home from the hospital barely 20 minutes and the nurse called to say he passed away.

I can't believe he's gone. I'm never going to see my dad again.

Try to remember the good times. My father is expected to pass at any time. We've kept him at home, and made him as comfortable as possible. For some people it's a release.

It was for him, thanks. He died two weeks ago this Friday.

The way he was in the hospital was only a small portion of your fathers life, and it hard to forget it because it was the most recent memories. That will hopefully fade quickly, leaving you with the better memories.
