You could get the remote.

Not a perfect solution, but it'll get you a wheel again

Plus if ou just hit play, it should start up, and hopefully if you've set it to shuffle...

Have you tried grabbing the updater from's apple's site and reflashing the software? It might just be a software glitch and not a bad clickwheel. http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ipodresetutility10forwindows.html try that, hopefully it'll fix you up.
