Day One: Starting Over, Learning How to Breathe

So this summer, I wanted to do Art Slam, but I feel as though I can't fully commit to it.  I just have this odd feeling that something is going to keep me from being consistent with my work.  So I opted for something else: JACKSLAM.  Drawing/sketching whenever possible, posting whenever convenient, writing about the experiences I've had past and ( Read more... )

I'm definitely going to be trying that. For years I've had two body types: male and female. It's really been a stretch for me to try different shapes, but I feel like I have to if I want my characters to be more "human" (I of course use that term loosely). Right now everything is just... mannequins with different wigs on. I'm ready to try to be better.

It's times like this when I miss working in a place where I could do stuff like that. As of now the only place I'm around other people is at the school, and I can't really draw the kids (they might learn my secret!). This summer I'm definitely going to try to be in more public areas so I can sketch people. I don't like the idea of sitting around and doing formal figure studies, but even I can sketch strangers as the walk past.

Thanks for the advice!
