Later that night Kibum found Kyuhyun sitting with Donghae, Ryeowook and Sungmin eating. He sat by Sungmin and wrapped his arms around his waist and leaned his head on Sungmin’s shoulder.

“So what’d you find out?” Kyuhyun said and Sungmin rolled his eyes.

“I didn’t find out anything!” Kibum exclaimed, “He caught me!”

“Who are we talking about?” Ryeowook spoke up. He looked around a saw a person he had wanted to talk to. “Oh Hyukjae! Come sit with us!”

Kibum visibly stiffened. “Oh I would rather not,” Hyukjae said smirking at Kibum and walking past the group.

“That’s who we are talking about.” Sungmin stated smoothing Kibum’s hair. “How did he catch you? You’ve never been caught before right?”

“Yeah but he knew I was there! He even knew why I was there!” Kibum sighed, “He said that if Kyuhyun had a question he should just ask him.”

Kyuhyun became nervous, making the entire table nervous, “What do you want to ask him?” Donghae said looking around, “and stop that I’m getting paranoid!”

“Oh, sorry,” Kyuhyun said trying to make his own emotions go back into his body. “I just wanted to know more about him. I mean none of us knows his power! The only person that does is Zhou Mi and he’s not telling anyone! I don’t even know how he gets people to go into his tent! He doesn’t have a sign or anything that tells you what his talent is.”

“That’s another thing!” Kibum exclaimed, “He said his ability was a curse!”

“Well that’s normal,” Sungmin said, “Ryeowook used to think his magic was a curse.” Ryeowook nodded, “and Henry had problems going through things when he first got here.”

“But you don’t see him performing magic tricks or slipping through walls,” Kyuhyun said, “he can’t appear out of nowhere, trade places with people, control emotions, move objects with his mind or even read people’s minds!”

“He knew I was in the tent with him.” Kibum said, “And he knew why I was there. He even knew when another customer was going to enter.”

“His ability must be really cool,” Donghae said smiling, “I’ll ask him the next time I see him! Now you guys have me curious.”

**

The next time Donghae saw Hyukjae was when he was walking back to the big top from the bathroom. He saw Hyukjae entering his own small tent and called out to him.

Hyukjae sighed and looked at Donghae, “yes Donghae?”

“Umm… I was wondering what you’re ability was?” he replied timidly. He personally thought Hyukjae was scary.

“Hmm? You want to know what my curse is?” Hyukjae said turning to fully face Donghae, “Why?”

“Well… because I’m curious.” Donghae replied honestly, “We all are.”

“That’s refreshing,” was all Hyukjae replied. Donghae gave him a confused look, “at least you tell me the truth.”

Donghae smiled and was about to say something but Hyukjae cut him off, “But I don’t trust you. So no I will not tell you what my curse is.”

Donghae looked distraught, “how can I gain your trust?”

“You’ll see in time Donghae.” Hyukjae said turning back to walk into his tent.

“Why are you sleeping in this tent and not the big top like everyone else?” Donghae asked before Hyukjae could fully enter the tent.

Hyukjae turned slightly again, “because I’m not privileged enough.”

“But you are!” Donghae said a little too loud for Hyukjae’s comfort.

“I’m glad someone thinks that.” Hyukjae said wiping his eyes, “Do you really want to know my curse, Donghae?”

“Yes! But why so sudden? Do you trust people so easily?” Donghae asked.

“Let’s just say… it’s a part of my curse.” Hyukjae said. He gave Donghae a sincere smile, “Come into my tend Donghae, and I will show you my curse. But you must not tell a soul; for you might be cursed if you tell as well.”

Donghae gulped and nodded his head. He didn’t know if Hyukjae was lying or not but he knew the threat shouldn’t be taken lightly. He walked into the tent and saw blankets on the floor on one side and a simple table on the other side. There was a small dresser in the back but nothing else in the tent.

“Please sit,” Hyukjae ordered and Donghae immediately sat. He wondered for a brief moment if Hyukjae could control people’s minds. “Now, give me your hands.”

Donghae held out both hands and Hyukjae took them. Not a moment after Hyukjae lowered his head between their hands onto the table. He started groaning. Donghae tried to pull away but Hyukjae just held on tighter. Hyukjae began to breathe deeply and curse. After a while he let go of Donghae’s hands and sat back up.

“I saw bright lights. Mostly pink and blue. Some green. Not much black and purple. Happiness. Joy. Love.” Hyukjae stated matter-of-factly. “Some sadness. And very little jealousy. A perfect boyfriend.”

Donghae was just plain confused, “what are you talking about? I don’t get it.”

Hyukjae smiled a bitter smile, “you’re not supposed to. I can’t speak clearly of the future.”

“Oh! Oh!” Donghae jumpted up and down in his seat, “You can see-”

“Will you shut up!” Hyukjae interrupted. Donghae looked sad, “or just speak lower. Yes I can look ahead. I cannot tell you your future but I can hint at it. Which I have just did. You cannot tell others what I have just told you because bad things can happen to both of us.”

Hyukjae got up from his chair and removed his shirt before walking over to the bed, “So why don’t you sleep in the big top with the rest of us? Does Yesung scare you?”

Hyukjae laughed sitting on his makeshift bed, “No Yesung does not scare me. I do not want to touch people. That is when their future is the strongest to me. I see everything. And I have to keep a hold of them until I see their entire life flash before my eyes. I would rather not see that. It is bad enough that I have to see complete strangers futures every day.”

“Then why work with us?”

“Because I get paid for it. And I am around other cursed people so I do not feel as lonely.”

“But you’re still lonely! You don’t eat with us or sleep in the same tent or go out with us!” Donghae exclaimed frustrated with Hyukjae’s words.

“Why go where freaks do not belong?” Hyukjae answered.

“That’s the difference between us, Hyukjae. I don’t see myself as cursed or a freak. I see my magic abilities as a gift and I see it as a way to help and entertain people. You should learn from us.”

Donghae stood up from his chair and began to walk to the opening of the tent, “Thanks for trusting me.”

Donghae walked to the big tent and entered it thinking about everything Hyukjae had told him. So he could see into the future… and now he knew almost everything about Donghae… crap.

“What happened?” Kyuhyun asked Donghae the next morning when he sat down at their table.

“Nothing really…” Donghae hesitantly answered sitting down by Ryeowook.

“Well something must have happened, Donghae,” Ryeowook said looking at Donghae.

I saw bright lights. Donghae’s eyes lit up in surprise when he looked at Ryeowook, “nothing happened! We just talked for a bit, but he wouldn’t tell me what his ability was.”

“You’re lying.” Ryeowook said glaring at Donghae. And very little jealousy.

“Yeah I am.” Donghae sighed, “But I really can’t tell you guys what happened.”

Kyuhyun and Ryeowook looked at him apprehensively until they saw Sungmin walking up to them.

“Morning Min!” Ryeowook said smiling, “and Kibum!”

“How’d you know I was here too?” Kibum asked becoming visible again.

“Because Sungmin’s here!” was the reply he got from Donghae.

The other two sat down and began to eat. They weren’t talking much just some small talk and Donghae was avoiding the others’ eyes hoping they wouldn’t bring up his and Hyukjae’s conversation.

Donghae looked up from his plate of food when he felt someone walking near them. It was Hyukjae. Hyukjae smiled and put his plate by Kyuhyun’s and looked at the group, “Can I sit here?”

The others looked stunned but Donghae spoke up first, “Sure Hyukkie!”

“Hyukkie?” Ryeowook said looking back and forth between Donghae and Hyukjae.

“Hmm? Wookie? It’s just a nick name!” Donghae smiled at Ryeowook.

A perfect boyfriend. Donghae’s smile literally fell off of his face as he looked at Hyukjae. Hyukjae just gave him a knowing smile as he began to eat.

**

A few weeks passed and Hyukjae began to get along with the others. Well it was a slow process and he was working on it but he would usually be seen messing around with Donghae or watching the performances that were held in the big top. His favorite was Yesung’s animal taming act. He loved watching Yesung tame the animals by just using his voice.

He did not however watch one act. Kyuhyun’s act. He didn’t even talk to Kyuhyun. He had also been having a few problems. Hyukjae would disappear for several hours; working hours or not he was nowhere to be found. Donghae didn’t even know where he went and they were almost attached at the hip. (They were at one point though when Ryeowook attached them. Hyukjae was not happy to everyone’s amusement.)

That night they had set up camp near a forest. They were on their way to the next town and had to stop. Donghae helped Hyukjae put up his little tent because he saw that Hyukjae didn’t look well.

After the tent was up Donghae walked over to the other side to tell Hyukjae to lie down, but he wasn’t there. Donghae became frantic and ran to the others who had just finished putting up the big top. He quickly told the others about Hyukjae not looking well and disappearing.

The others became worried and Zhou Mi told them to calm down. Kyuhyun did as he was mentally instructed and forced all of his calm nerves onto the others and Zhou Mi began to instruct them to look for him.

Kyuhyun walked blindly into the forest; ignoring Zhou Mi’s instructions to stay with someone. He had a good sense of direction so he didn’t think he would get too lost.

After walking for about thirty minutes he heard water running. He walked towards the sound and saw a small stream. When he got closer to the stream he saw someone laying half in the water half out of the water.

He ran over to the person and saw that it was Hyukjae. “Hyukjae! Are you ok?!” He exclaimed running over to the other man and started to reach out to him.

“Do not touch me empath!” Hyukjae gasped out moving away from the other.

Kyuhyun was annoyed, “I have a name and it’s Kyuhyun! Not Empath! Now use it! You’re in trouble and I’m here to help!”

Kyuhyun reached for Hyukjae again and Hyukjae quickly moved away from him. “I said do not touch me!”

“What Donghae’s the only person that can touch you?!” Kyuhyun huffed up, “Never mind!” He turned and began to walk away from Hyukjae when he heard a groan from the other. He turned and saw Hyukjae holding his head and gasping for air. He forced his emotions out again and spoke calmly, “Hyukjae you’re in pain.”

“No shit!” Hyukjae said annoyed. Kyuhyun tried to make all of his calming emotions out of his body and walked to Hyukjae.

“Let me help you.” He said in the softest voice he could manage. He reached out and grabbed Hyukjae’s hand.

Hyukjae gasped again and his eyes widened. His breath slowed down and he looked at Kyuhyun, “I can’t see anything…” He whispered, “I can’t see. Have I finally lost this curse?”

Hyukjae mumbled nonsense as Kyuhyun gently picked him up and started carrying Hyukjae back to camp; all the while keeping his emotions focused on the other man.
