so the little mermaid ballet was good. not fantastic and not awful - i need to stick with the more classic ones methinks. i didn't understand a lot of the "story" as told through dance and the music was more modern with a lot of discordant notes which makes me feel nervous and edgy >.o i like melodious things goddamnit! ;p also i was waaaaaaaaaay

Still jealous of all this art stuffs you get to do. I'm debating about catching an opera this summer, but it's hard to motivate myself when it's just me.

For all the flack that "Cats" gets, I thought it was a fun musical. Not my favorite, but still a nice experience and some fun songs that get stuck in your head all day long. I especially like how the actors really get into the act of being a cat. Definitely not a stuffy show. ;)

That's my idea. I've never seen an opera either, and I recently got a flyer about all of the operas they are doing this summer at the performing arts center. I wish I knew which one would be good as a starter opera for me.

I think 'Cats' is one of those that people either love it or hate it. I thought it was a lot of fun, but I think some people consider it... low-class in a way? Because, y'know, heaven forbid a musical is fun for the sake of being fun. And then there are the general musical haters out there and 'Cats' is one of the longest running shows, if not the longest. It's an easy target, I suppose.

I'm glad you had such a good time at Cats, I know how excited you were to see it. My mom doesn't like it, so that's one popular musical I've never seen. *pets and snugs*
