30 Day Fanfic Meme - Day 22 & Day 23

Jul 28, 2011 22:18

Here's the link for LJ status when it's down, just as an FYI.

Since LJ was being a dickbag the past couple of nights and not letting me post, I'm forced to put two days together in this post. Le Sigh. Apparently LJ has been under DDoS attacks once again. Fucking Russians, I swear, they just don't give up. I have to admit that I've been kind of LOLing when people have been like, "Quick, to DreamWidth!" when they've been having issues with being really slow over there too. I can live with LJ being down every once in a while, it's not the end of the world. Plus, there's just something off-putting to me about DW, and I can't place my finger on it. Besides the fact that it's a blatant LJ rip-off. But anyway.

30 Days Fanfiction Meme

22 - Have you ever participated in a fest or a Big Bang? If so, write about your favorite experience in relation to one. If not, are there any you've thought about doing? And if not, why not?

I have not. I've briefly thought about it, but then decided against it. I can't remember which one I was considering though, which probably means that I wasn't considering it too seriously. They do seem like a lot of fun, but they also seem kind of SRS BSNS to me. I mean, there's usually a deadline, and I'm not good with deadlines. Sometimes for me, writing is like pulling teeth, and I'm not likely to meet a deadline. You usually have to have your work beta'ed and I really don't like having stuff beta'ed just because that also seems a bit on the SRS BSNS side as well. Plus, it seems that a lot of the fics for those kinds of things are pretty epic word-count wise, and honestly, I don't really do epic fic. So, yeah... No.

23 - When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?

For the most part, you can pretty much find all of my fics over on y!Gallery. I think there's like, one fic that I haven't posted over there and that's just because I've been kind of lazy about it. When I was active in the Ace Attorney fandom, I posted my AA-related fics over at the 'Objection! Fanfic Archive' as well. As for the L4D2 stuff, once again, you can find everything over at y!Gallery, but I've posted them here on my LJ as well. (Just look under the tag 'fanfic') I tend not to use sites like ff.net or deviantArt just because of the amount of horrible on both of those sites. I'm sure that there's some good stuff, but you really have to shovel through the shit to get to it. Plus, the maturity of a lot of the users on those sites really leaves something to be desired. Which is why I tend to lurk them rather than contribute to them. I'm not trying to be a snob or anything, it's just how I feel. ^_^;;
