If you're an older or even newer fan of Rurouni Kenshin (or possibly just an art fan) you may be aware of Haku Baikou. I have learned recently she passed away
( Read more... )
Her presence in the RK fan community (and in general) will be sorely missed. She was such an amazing artist and kind person. She always encouraged my art skills whenever I submitted to her site. :) I think about all the fans who have become friends that I met through her site though the years (you included, if memory serves.) I almost feel as if that whole era of RK's fandom, back when it was on Cartoon Network, is now officially done with her passing. She was like the mother of all RK fans, haha :) Rest in Peace, Charlene. <3
Yes, very true. I think the RuroKen fandom is kinda rare now. But she still kept supporting it --pretty much all RuroKen fans know who she is. At least the artists and fic writers, anyway.
I always looked forward to her updates and what she wrote about peoples pics. Always found something positive to say.
That community was great. I never really took part, just kinda lurked but there was some pretty cool fans there. <333
I just learned last night. I've been putting up art in my room in her honor- she was such an incredible person, kind and giving, and SO talented. I've met her a few times at Anime Expo and once I was in a bad situation, and crying my heart out, and she was offering to help me out even though I didn't know her that well. It ended up ok, but it was just so so -so- sweet.
She will be loved and missed, and I agree, it feels like the RK fandom is dead now. It almost was anyway, but this is its resting place. Oh God...
Ya. Especially since 'help' meant driving me to my friends house an hour away or so because I didn't know how I was gonna get there. Or possibly home. Which is father, but I think it was to my friend's.
Don't let what connected you all stop the passion of your fandom! Encourage, help, and support others as she has done for you guys. I know it's tough being without her artistic presence, but through her artwork alone is where she had said the most. I only know of her just from this memorial post and just seeing a few pics on her DA page. I saw her drawing 'Learning To Fly' and see the young girl being "Life" and the baby dragon being Charlene, for she (appearing through my eyes)was a free spirit. May she rest peacefully and eternally, for her soul is missed.
The thanks, actually, goes out to you and all the others who are keeping her within your hearts and sharing what she meant to you with other people. Sometimes we tend to keep our feelings about the passings of those that mean so much to ourselves. But just as friends need to be shared, so should their memories.

I realize this comment is rather late, but I just wanted to leave my input on your blog entry.
I am glad to find other fans/friends of hakubaikou who have written/created things in her honor. ^_^x
I had the chance to be able to meet and talk to her on GaiaOnline.com. She will be greatly missed, but she shall live on through her inspirational, remarkable, and beautiful artwork.

Yeah, I think we can say the RuroKen fandom is pretty much gone now with her passing. I think all of us fans looked up to her pretty much.
So, so sad...
