My high school friends finally deigned themselves to give back my old, battered copy of Good Omens (which they had been passing around for more than a year, and which came back more battered than ever), so I did the only sensible thing; re-read it for the nth time. Definitely not taking this book for the flight, because after 20 hours with nothing else to do but read it I might just try and choke myself with the in-flight peanuts bag.

And because if you do and successfully kill yourself, Palahniuk is likely to steal your news story headline and write another horrifying, cynical, filth-as-beauty book about it.
