The ending is perfect. I love the direction you took it, it's so *different* but with the same kind of elements.

And yes, this is scary; not the missing of the reflection, even though this was creeping me out, but only in the beginning, but the despondence of Alina, her lackadaisical attitude. Even in the end, when she's banished God-knows-where, she accepts her fate, doesn't fight back. She's happy for a second-hand faith.
It fucking sickens me.
Oh, don't get me wrong. I like the story, and one can see how you're an artist beyond the crafting of words - the colours you use are vivid, pregnant with meaning (Let me guess: No, they're not, and I'm only imagining things).
Oh, and I love how you never describe Alina's face, her body or something like that, not once.
Doesn't stop me from wanting to strangle the reflection, and giving the real Alina a way back, because the reflection's an impostor, and life ought to be lived on one's own.

Hee. I don't like describing people's looks mostly because mary-sues descriptions have left me scarred for life. o_O But it WAS more intentional this time around.
Thank you!

AAH. OH GOD. Ale, I read this sometime after midnight with the lights off -- the first time, anyway -- and it creeped the fuck out of me. It's awesome. It's brilliant. It makes me want to rage and think and live. I think that this is, hands down, my favourite thing of yours yet (funny, I seem to say that every time, but it's always true!).
♥!
