One of Discovery's better reality shows is Cake Boss. It contains the usual personality clashes, but it shows a lot more of how those crazy creations you see for big parties are made. Just a tiny shop, family business *grin* You get the concept from the customers, he shows his design and they literally show you how the thing is constructed and the reaction from said customers. It's a high end shop, but egads watching things take shape is fun!
Since it's a family business, you get bickering and then some. But its tolerable compared to some of the other things. Touma-chan got me into it on her visit here.
Believe me i avoid 99% of the reality tv shows myself. I like What Not to Wear,Ground Force(90s BBC gardening/landscape show), and both the UK and the US versions of Trading Spaces. Everything else? Meh

It's a Japanese sports/game show that's really addictive and good. Sure, part of the entertainment is the first round folks wiping out, but they'd have to be pretty silly not to know what they were getting into. Some return season after season to wipe out. They dress in costumes to wipe out. Very rarely do you see someone genuinely upset. The challenge courses are hard, and progressively harder as you go through the stages
