I mentioned the bus runs through there, but he's apparently afraid to take it because he's scared he'll end up in Richmond (about an hour away). She suggested I show him how to look at bus routes and shit.

eeeeh he probably wouldn't care. He doesn't do social networking sites, thinks they're lame and for shut-ins with no lives. He'd just brush it off.
