Gaaaah, Esimas. *hides* SOOOOoo The Tome: Juvenile LotR Derivative Edition. XD And yet, oh, the nostalgia that brings!

I remember when I was about six I would beg for coffee from my dad, and he would give me a little sampling in a medicine cup. So I learned from an early age that coffee is indeed a medicinal thing. *nods sagely*

On another note--pick me, pick me! *waves* I want to play!

Hee. I still love Esimas, even if I understand all too well about early writing endeavors and how these things go. ^^

Your dad is awesome for doing that. What an absolutely perfect teaching method.

M'kay, lemme see...

1. Fruitcake - because, I find this anual ritual you have mentioned fascinating.
2. Middlemarch - because I loathed the movie, and I know you loved the book, and I'd love to hear moar of whyyy.
3. Stargate SG-1 - Because seeing it made me miss it!
4. Tolkien - Because Tolkien, that's why.
5. Scarlet Pimpernel - Because...the reason for us ever having met. :3

Yays for "nosey" memes. ^^ Esimas is an "old" character from scarvenartist's first versions of her story. imbecamiel and I have officially started his fan club preemptively, before her books have been published (and even if poor Esimas has been somewhat written out of the story, proper - because I still have a fond place in my heart for him *pats him*). Interesting fact: Esimas' name spelled backward (intentionally) spells Sam Wise, minus the "W."

Ah, I see. As I keep seeing hints and glimpses of stuff she writes. It's intriguing, to say the least!

When I was little, I pretended to like coffee, because it seemed so terribly Grown Up, and whoever mom offered to let me try a sip it was such a huge privilege.

Hee hee... I remember my uncle letting me have a sip of his black coffee when I was about four. He figured I'd hate it and was absolutely flabbergasted when I drank the entire cup! I haven't stopped drinking it since, I don't think.

I'll always have a certain love for even the overly goofy prankster!Twins genre of fic.I didn' ( ... )

Her stories are intriguing. :D

Wow! If you were drinking black coffee all along, you were definitely more Pro than me. :D I definitely "cheated" with nectarized coffee for a while...

I'm not 100% sure it was the Mellon Chronicles that started the prankster!Twins genre...it just seemed that way, at least from where I was in the fandom. I was pretty young when I got into LOTR, and I believe the MC stories were some of the first fanfics I ever read. I do love to re-read them now and then (even though - in hindsight, now that I'm older - I do agree with you about characterizations), because of all the great memories.

I've certainly also adored Meckinock's stories since I discovered them (and I couldn't believe I hadn't heard of them earlier than I did, because of how awesome they are). Not least because they're so Aragorn-centric - and I like the mix she does of portraying him as fallible yet still noble and wonderful.

Ah, I must disagree here: liking it black doesn't really make someone a pro, nor is it cheating to add sugar or flavoring. The Turks, after all, opened the first recorded coffee house in Istanbul... and they use sugar (and cardamom, I believe I've read). I actually prefer cream and sugar these days, and flavoring as well (MOCHA!!! And French vanilla, and cinnamon, and Irish Cream... of course, not all at once. That would be... repulsive). So no glory nor shame in black vs sweet. It's however you enjoy it most.

Unless, of course, you make it too weak. Or, egads, you reheat yesterday's brew, which my dear departed mother was known to do. *choke* *spit* *grabs throat* *POISONED!! I'VE BEEN POISONED!!!!!* hee hee. I didn't react with quite so much drama, but I did spit it out and give her an incredulous look. Yeah, it's gotta be fresh.

So what is your preferred coffee brand?

YES. AGREED. ;D My mom doesn't mind cold/old coffee, either, and she knows that confiscating my cold/old coffee - and freeing me up for a gloriously FRESH cuppa - is one of the most loving things she can do for me. ^^

I've also been spoiled by a Keurig coffee maker. Single cup brewing = a magical thing. I love Dunkin' Donuts and 8 O'clock Coffee, but lately I've kind of fallen in love with the Wide Awake brand (I mean, it has adorable owls on the box, just to begin with...). That is some seriously dark coffee! I have to pace myself on a cup, or the buzz is almost overpowering.

When I'm on the run, though, I actually just like to grab McDonalds coffee. What about you?

1. You say this because you have never tried Lypsyl.

A superior lip balm, is it? I could use that.

Yes!

I bought it for the first time because I was in the store, I had no strong feelings about any lip balm, and the mechanism to lift the stick is an adorable bumble bee.

Now I buy it because it 1. works faster than ANY lip balm I know and 2. tastes AND smells better than any lip balm I know and 3. is the least clumpy/noticeable lip balm I have ever tried.

I actually buy a pack of ten off of Amazon and they sort of float around my house and car and bags and that way I always have one, and it lasts for years and years.

I found some at the store today, and you're right, it smells/works great.

And...bumblebee! Always a plus.

Lip balm power! *fist-bumps you* I've become addicted to it as well as part of my nightly routine, because it I don't put some kind of lip protection on then I wake up with dry, chapped, sometimes bleeding lips. I used to use more medicated stuff but now just stick with Vasaline.

Do you collect the nice-smelling lip palms in the little tins? Do they even still have those? :S My sisters would always get this nifty, tiny tins with slide-away lids with cute pictures on the front and strawberry-scented lip balm inside. Even after the balm was gone, the smell would stay for ever. They probably weren't all that effective as a lip balm but, dang it, they were still awesome!

Yeah, my lips chap very easily, so I have lip balm by my desk/bed/EVERYWHERE. ^^

I love the nice-smelling lip balms, and I think I have a couple similar to what you're talking about (stashed somewhere...). But if I use them too much I tend to bite my lips even more than I would normally, because it always tastes like candy. But...still, love 'em, especially when they have just a bit of tint to them.
