Blogging between friends

I miss having my Livejournal feed me tidbits from a wide variety of people. Facebook status updates don't cut it, especially when many of the people I'd love to hear from/about don't show up on my news feed, and I'm still very much against Twitter. I know life circumstances and how we use our online presence have changed plenty in the past decade ( Read more... )

More work, less meaning anonymous April 10 2011, 20:17:26 UTC
I also miss blogging. Well, not really, because i'm doing it now. I miss OTHER PEOPLE blogging. :) I also miss the good old days when people would reply to emails. Now it seems like writing an email is just way too much work for most people.

Appliances have gone berserk. I cannot keep up. So I plan on eventually phasing the internet out of my life altogether. It's sort of impossible, when you're a student. But that will be over in a year. It will probably cripple my career options and make dating impossible. But I'm hoping it will result in more real-life encounters. Phone calls, face-to-face meetings, etc.

It might not work. You can't go backwards without losing something. But I'd like to at least try it.

I'm not a dinosaur. It's just that when I weigh the costs and benefits, I don't think the internet is worth it.

I'm not really anonymous. I'm Alex. But I'm not on facebook, twitter, or livejournal... so I guess I don't count.

It is at least partly for this reason I've really been getting into letter writing in a big way. Yours is coming, at some point! I just never really quite know when that point is going to be.

If you're still accessible on the intarwebs when my piece is reasonably finished (with piano and cello - only the last 2 minutes of piano needs to be added!), you will be among the recipients, if'n you're interested.

In related news, in a music-positive and fiscally irrelevant use of the intarwebs, my latest undertaking other than the aforementioned piece of mine was to join my friend Paul in a two hour live radio show. It's such a cool endeavour, and really good for stretching my musical brainmeats. If you're interested, have a listen, and tell me what you think!

Cool. I'm looking forward to that letter.

And yes, I am definitely interested in your piece. (I've got some stuff up here as well: http://www.myspace.com/alexsuterus. It's all just demo material and ideas, but I like having people sniff my dirty laundry... so there it is. Apologies in advance for the myspace player.)

I'm studying for my last exam, but I'll listen to that radio show as soon as I get a chance. I'm very curious about it.

Alex.
