Given how turning 40 turned out, I can't wait to see what 50 is going to be like! Logistical issues such as travelling to Jamaica meant that the week before my birthday was turned into my birthday week by hubby. A Starbucks giftcard, Team Canada warm-up jacket and a watch (think he's trying to tell me something?) along with a few other items were plenty wonderful pampering. Then, the best day of all - Saturday - my brother and SIL babysat for us while hubby took me for dinner then a hockey game (Sens nearly put me in a coma) and topped it all off with a pair of girl's best friends for my ears!
In Jamaica, on the actual day, my nutter SIL planned a pirate-themed, surprise beach party because she didn't have enough on her plate planning the wedding and all. Hubby took me out to dinner:
While the rest of the group got into their costumes (V included):
After a quick change, we met up with them on the beach:
My little pirate eating cheese fish while finishing me off in a sword fight:
AND they had a firedancer for entertainment:
There was a steel drum band playing at the bar next door, so we had music to dance to, and the resort provided a bonfire for us. We did get some weird looks from the other resort guests when we trekked through the bar on the way back to our room at the end of the evening.
And, to top it all off I ended up with a pretty kick-ass pirate hat.
