Into each generation a Slayer is born, one girl in all the world, a Chosen One, one born with the strength and skill to hunt the vampires, to stop the spread of their evil, blah, blah, blah.
...
Xander Harris is not that girl.
There. That's better.
The Boy He Used To Be
He's not that girl, but he did go to high school with her. Until Sunnydale High was evacuated in Spring 1999 (aka the end of BtVS season 3) and the students were shipped out to different schools to avoid becoming snake-chow when the mayor turned himself into a demon. Xander ended up taking a second
senior year at FH (and missing most of a really AU season 4 back home). He graduated in Spring of 2006 at age 19, taught
Scoobying 101 for two sessions of FH Summer Camp, then went home to his dimension to go to UC Sunnydale with Buffy and Willow.
He meant to come back to visit Fandom, and tried to
e-mail his friends (and then-
boyfriend) over the
six years that passed, but the minute the portal back home closed behind him so did any ability to contact Fandom High, due to the timeline trying to protect itself. Many things happened more or less as they did in canon, but some events and relationships were affected by the original evacuation of Sunnydale High and by things Xander experienced in Fandom. The most significant personal changes for Xander are that he did go to college (though UC Sunnydale went byebye before he finished) and that instead of his canon relationship with Anya, he
developed a...
something...
with Faith over the
summer that Buffy was dead, and
lived with her until she was killed in that universe's version of
Chosen.
Most of the supernatural parts of canon played out as scripted, leaving Xander sans an eye and working for a rebuilt Watchers' Council in a world where Sunnydale is now a giant sinkhole and there are more Slayers than you can shake a pointy stake at. He alternated between picking up new ones and doing clean-up/repair after a Slayer'd been through someplace and the fight caused building-damage. He was alone, sadder but not precisely unhappy, and generally restless. He didn't take long-term assignments in one place, or with one Slayer.
The Guy He Is
In January of 2007, Xander's timeline
synched up with Fandom's again. (And his journal became
needsaparrot. Because playing 19 year old Xander and 27 year old one-eyed Xander out of the same 100 icons? Not happening.)
He discovered this completely by accident, when the place where he was supposed to pick up a new Slayer turned out to be a lot more
familiar than he was expecting. Because he couldn't have a boring return to Fandom, Xander was immediately faced with a
kidnapped ex-boyfriend, a (luckily failed)
suicide note on his voicemail, and a bunch of friends (and a purple frog) who'd barely aged since the last time he saw them. Also, a gift
apartment-complex he tries hard not to look in the mouth, and a Slayer from the future who's not planning on
going anywhere anytime soon.
Six and a half years passed for Xander while he was gone; a little less than five months passed for Fandom. He didn't become a Sith Lord, but yeah, there's culture-shock. He's twenty-seven and has lived through a lot of things that have aged him beyond that in some ways. He's also still Xander, though; he still loves Twinkies, reads Really Strong Guy Who Can Fly and collects Happy Meal toys. He hasn't quite joined the Don't Trust Anyone Over Thirty crowd, but his priorities and reactions to things have changed.
He's friendly and still jokes a lot, but he's serious more often now, and when his jokes are covering something, it's more likely to be worry or sadness than the teenage insecurity it used to be.
Relationships, AKA oh, you're a cradle robber with a dead-ringer for your dead ex walking around the island too?
After holding out for months because hi, nine year age difference and why yes that did count as jailbait in this state, the ex-boyfriend is now... not so exxy. Xander's still a little twitchy about that, but since the thing that finally
flipped his switch was one reminder too many that they tend to live dangerous lives and it's just plain stupid to waste time that could disappear in a second, he's mostly relegated that twitch to the back of his mind. Okay, meeting their possible
offspring? Made Xander's brain explode. Made Xander's heart explode. Helped. Meeting Bridge's
parents? Well on the one hand, he's not in tiny card jail. But there was that incident with Bridge's mom holding a knife on him.
Speaking of knives, Fandom High's current Faith doesn't know that Xander's version of her is dead, or that he was seeing her when it happened. Xander isn't likely to volunteer the information to her himself unless there's a plotty need for it (he doesn't think it's fair to dump that on her), but we-the-players are cool with Faith finding out if the situation arises.
MCA Apartments and Guy With Tools
This page contains the layouts for all the floors, and a list of which apartments are occupied and vacant, as well as both in-character and OOC voicemail threads. If you have a character who needs an apartment, ping me either on AIM, by e-mail, or in one of the voicemail threads, and we can figure out which one you'd like and set up an office post for renting it. (Though I'm also open to handwaving that if it works out best for you.)
Guy With Tools is a fancy way of saying Xander's also available for repair, remodeling, and carpentry jobs around town. It has a separate
voicemail mostly so I can snicker myself silly at the fact that his number is 555-TOOL, but like anything else if you'd rather drop me an e-mail or grab me on AIM, that's fine too.

50 Things About XanderThe
full character history. (...Shut up.)
OOC: You and Me
Contact: E-mail = soldtoarmenians at crackedverse.com. IM = soldtoarmenians
Availability: Eastern timezone. I work weekdays 8 to 5, more or less, and am sometimes available to play (and on IM) during those hours, sometimes not. After 5 on weekdays, and most waking hours on weekends, I'm probably on IM and playing.
Me as a player: Me + ability to concentrate on many threads/posts at once |= OTP. If you see Xander in a large post and he's only responding to people who directly ping his thread, it's not because I don't want to talk to you - it's just that it's easier on my concentration to stick to one main thread. None of this means I won't be happy to play in any particular post with you folk; it just means everything's a case-by-case "Is my brain currently exploding?" situation. If you need Xander someplace he's not, just grab me beforehand to figure out whether we're both/all available for an interaction. Talk to me, by
e-mail or IM. OOC communication = love.
Did I mention OOC Communication = Love? Because I can't repeat it enough. Please
talk to me if anything I do bothers you, whether it's in-character actions or OOC gameplaying issues. I can't fix it if I don't realize it's happening. If you feel like pinging me in IM or e-mail just to shoot the breeze? That's awesome too.
But What Have You Done For Me Lately? Icon slave at your service, time-permitting. If you need a character's hair or clothes re-colored, an OTP icon, prom dress, something cracky for a plot like...uh...a Carmen Miranda hat which I have never *cough* done to any of my characters, or 'hey, the Abominable Snowman and Hello Kitty are co-hosting radio tonight, can you make us an icon in the next half hour?' -- give me a poke. Not dirty. If I have time, I love doing that kind of stuff.
